VACANCY NOTICE
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, innovative and self-motivated individuals to fill the following positions within the Institution.
1. CURATOR OF ETHNOGRAPHY – NORTHERN REGION
1.1 Key Responsibilities
• Research, document, preserve and interpret ethnographic collections and cultural heritage resources.
• Develop and implement exhibitions, educational programmes and public engagement initiatives.
• Produce research publications, reports and catalogues.
• Manage ethnographic collections in accordance with established museum standards and procedures.
• Assist in the development and implementation of heritage conservation policies and programmes.
• Supervise staff and interns assigned to the department.
• Prepare work plans, budgets and performance reports.
1.2 Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Heritage Studies, Sociology, History, Cultural Studies or an equivalent qualification.
• A Master's Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
• At least three (3) years' relevant experience in museums, cultural heritage management, research institutions or related environments.
• Demonstrated experience in research, heritage documentation and exhibition development.
1.3 Key Competencies and Skills
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Good report writing and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of museum collections management systems.
• Project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital documentation tools.
• Knowledge of indigenous knowledge systems and community heritage management will be an added advantage.
2. CURATOR OF ARCHAEOLOGY
2.1 Key Responsibilities
• Conduct archaeological research, surveys and excavations.
• Document, analyse and interpret archaeological collections and sites.
• Develop and curate archaeological exhibitions and educational programmes.
• Prepare technical reports, publications and heritage management plans.
• Participate in archaeological impact assessments and heritage conservation initiatives.
• Manage archaeological collections in accordance with professional standards.
• Engage stakeholders, researchers and local communities in archaeological heritage programmes.
• Assist in developing strategies for the protection and promotion of archaeological heritage resources.
• Supervise staff, students and interns attached to the department.
2.2 Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, Archaeological Heritage Studies, Anthropology or an equivalent qualification.
• A Master's Degree in Archaeology or related field will be an added advantage.
• At least three (3) years' relevant experience in archaeology, heritage management, museums or related fields.
• Practical fieldwork experience in archaeological surveys and excavations.
2.3 Key Competencies and Skills
• Strong archaeological research and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of archaeological field methods and heritage conservation principles.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate archaeological information to diverse audiences.
• Project planning and management skills.
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications, databases and digital mapping tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
3. RECORDS CLERK – HEAD OFFICE
3.1 Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and manage the institution's records and registry systems.
• Receive, classify, register, file and retrieve records and correspondence.
• Ensure proper storage, tracking and disposal of records in line with approved records management procedures.
• Maintain both physical and electronic records management systems.
• Support records digitisation and electronic document management initiatives.
• Ensure confidentiality, security and integrity of institutional records.
• Facilitate records audits and assist in records retention scheduling.
• Prepare periodic records management reports.
• Provide records management support to departments and regional offices.
3.2 Qualifications and Experience
• Five (5) Ordinary Level passes including English Language.
• Diploma in Records Management, Library and Information Science, Archives Management or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience in records management or registry operations.
• Experience in electronic records management systems will be an added advantage.
3.3 Key Competencies and Skills
• Sound knowledge of records management principles and practices.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications and electronic document management systems.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
4. DRIVER – HEAD OFFICE
4.1 Key Responsibilities
• Provide safe, reliable and professional transportation services.
• Ensure proper care, cleanliness and maintenance of assigned vehicles.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle log books.
• Ensure compliance with road traffic regulations and organisational transport policies.
• Assist in the delivery and collection of documents, equipment and other official materials.
• Monitor vehicle servicing schedules and report defects promptly.
• Maintain fuel consumption and mileage records.
• Provide logistical support during official meetings, workshops and field assignments.
4.2 Qualifications and Experience
• Five (5) Ordinary Level passes including English Language and Mathematics.
• Clean Class 2 or Class 4 Driver's Licence.
• Valid Defensive Driving Certificate.
• Government Driver's Permit/Authority Certificate will be an added advantage.
• At least five (5) years' proven driving experience with a reputable organisation.
• Accident-free driving record.
4.3 Key Competencies and Skills
• Sound knowledge of road traffic regulations.
• Good vehicle maintenance awareness.
• High degree of integrity, reliability and professionalism.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work extended hours and travel when required.
• Good record-keeping skills.
• Basic computer literacy will be an added advantage.
