International Freight Forwarders Association of Zimbabwe [IFFAZIM] successfully applied for membership of the Federation of Clearing and Freight Forwarding Associations of Southern Africa [FCFASA]. It becomes the second Association from Zimbabwe to join FCFASA. The other one is the Shipping and Forwarding Agents Association of Zimbabwe [SFAAZ]. To know more about FCFASA, kindly visit www.fcfasa.org.
This is the first step in re-branding IFFAZIM which is now aiming to be a freight Association of first choice in Zimbabwe and beyond.
In a few weeks, IFFAZIM interactive website will go live and it will be used to distribute IFFAZIM newsletter. The newsletter will contain trending industry news and technical opinions on customs issues.
Another exciting development is the holding of IFFAZIM Inaugural Research Conference. The aim is to build research capacity among freight forwarders to encourage a culture of giving research informed policy proposals to government. A call for papers will be advertised soon and we propose to invite participants to research (1) The assessment of the success of SI64? (2) How effective has been the CBCA in curbing the importation of substandard products and (3) Is the Asycuda (Customs System) still the best system in this era? We hope we shall have a good response to call for papers as we will give a monetary token of appreciation.
If you are into freight or customs clearing and wondering which Association to join, the answer is now obvious. The subscription fees are as low as $250.00 per year.
