Officially cleared for a zero-litter takeoff!

This morning Airports Company of Zimbabwe Private Limited, alongside our amasing airport stakeholders, successfully intercepted all rogue debris across all our stations for the First Friday National Cleanup Campaign.

We engaged maximum participation, ensuring our environment looks cleaner than a captain's freshly ironed uniform. We have officially denied boarding to all dust and clutter, issuing them a strict one-way ticket out of our facilities.

Have a first-class weekend ahead and remember to keep the environment clean.

Airports Company of Zimbabwe (Private) Limited CEO, Mr. Tawanda Gusha, today addressed delegates at the Masvingo Business Conference, highlighting the critical role of aviation in driving regional economic growth, trade, investment and tourism.

With Masvingo Province strategically served by both Masvingo Airport and Buffalo Range Airport, the region holds significant potential for increased air traffic and enhanced connectivity. Mr. Gusha emphasized that attracting airlines requires a strong business case, underpinned by collaboration and commitment from all stakeholders.

“As we prepare to host Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo 2026, the planned upgrading of Masvingo Airport presents an opportunity to position the province for sustainable growth and, ultimately, the introduction of scheduled air services.”

Success will depend on collective efforts from government, business, tourism players and the wider community to create demand and unlock the full potential of aviation in Masvingo.

Traveler's Tips

1. Secure your flight at least 3 months in advance to lock in competitive prices and your preferred routes.
2. Pack Smart: Begin packing 3 days before departure to ensure you have all your essentials ready to go. Check your airline's specific limits for luggage size/weight and follow the 3-1-1 liquids rule to ensure a smooth trip through security.
3. Arrive Early: Be at the airport 3 hours before takeoff to enjoy a stress-free experience, settle in, and say your goodbyes.
4. Gate Ready: Reach the boarding gate 30 minutes before boarding to avoid the rush and secure space for your hand luggage.
5. Respect the boarding and deplaning process: Wait your turn to deplane rather than pushing forward. Be ready with your travel documents at the gate, and stow personal items completely under the seat in front of you.

Bon Voyage

Removal of shoes at our airports

Removing shoes at airports is not theatrical — it is a vital safety precaution to protect passengers, crew, and destination security. Shoes can be used to conceal dangerous or prohibited items, which is why screening procedures remain critical to safe air travel.

The consequences of prohibited goods passing through security can include:
• Damage to the security image of the point of origin
• Compromised in-flight safety for passengers and crew
• Threats to destination security

Please note that shoe removal during screening is not unique to Zimbabwean airports, but is practiced at many airports worldwide in line with their standard operating procedures.

Passengers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with items permitted in checked-in and hand baggage before travelling. Guidance signage is displayed at all check-in counters, or visit: https://acz.co.zw/Security/LAG

All Hands on Deck

The Airports Company of Zimbabwe Private Limited Board and Management recently conducted a strategic visit to Masvingo and Buffalo Range Airports to gain first-hand appreciation of operations, infrastructure status, and stakeholder expectations as ACZ advances its vision of becoming a regional hub of airport services by 2030.

A major highlight of the visit was the planned infrastructural development at Masvingo Airport ahead of the upcoming Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, set to be hosted in Masvingo.

As the gateway to the iconic Great Zimbabwe National Monument — from which Zimbabwe derives its name — the Masvingo region remains pivotal to the country’s tourism growth, cultural heritage preservation, and broader economic development.
