A plane carrying Vice President, Dr. Mutale Nalumango, has reportedly crashed shortly after take-off in Nakonde.
According to Chete FM, preliminary reports indicate the aircraft went down moments after departing, with about eight people believed to have been on board. Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of occupants or the condition of those aboard.
Dr. Nalumango had arrived in Nakonde at around 08:00 hours today and was scheduled to travel to Isoka District for another rally as part of her Muchinga Province tour.
Security has since been heightened around the crash site, with media access restricted.
