Recurr was not born from theory.
It was born from ex*****on.
Through Upstock, my team and I operated as a procurement and logistics partner for safari lodges and hospitality businesses. Our role was simple in principle: receive purchase orders, source goods on their behalf, and manage procurement and delivery for a fee.
In practice, this exposed us to the real pain of hospitality procurement on the ground.
We were repeatedly asked the same question: “Why are prices inconsistent?”
We saw the same challenges recur on both sides: fragmented ordering, last-minute changes, price disputes, stock inconsistencies, and heavy reliance on emails, calls, and spreadsheets that were never designed to run dynamic supply chains.
The issue wasn’t supplier instability or price manipulation.
It was a lack of visibility.
That realization led to the evolution of Recurr.
