Hi all
I'm just giving everyone a heads-up warning.

There seems to be a scammer syndicate in the Western Cape at the moment (which lends us to believe there could be many more scammers like this out there).

This company is using MassMart as their 'business' although we cannot find any details for them that reference the men we dealt with as employees. The man who seems to lead it goes by the alias 'Martin Booi' but we have reason to believe this is not his real name, and he's going by a number of others as well.

They ask you to do a load of fruit/veg, with a collection and delivery address. When our driver got to Cape Town, his delivery address was changed last minute and 4 x 8 tonner vehicles collected the load from a road near the market. This means even with our onboard cameras, they're virtually untraceable other than cellphones that they no longer answer.

We did have them down as a COD customer, and they sent us an incredibly believable proof of payment from a Nedbank account.
Payment of R65000 never cleared. He is now dodging our calls, and after some research, we're not the first people he's taken.

We would just like to warn all transporters to be careful and make sure COD money clears in your accounts before delivering goods, as the scammers seem to be picking up in the lead up to the festive season. We would hate to see someone else get taken the way have been.

With less than 6 weeks before Husky Rescue KZN finds themselves without a home, this is an urgent appeal for assistance.

We currently have 50 dogs in our care, and with an eviction looming due to financial constraints, the situation has reached dire straits.

How can you help?

We have a monthly debit order that could alleviate the financial stress, starting from as little as R50 a month. Either you, your friends, family or even work colleagues could sign up or promote this, so we can create a sustainable NPO. You can also support us by swiping your Woolworths My School Card or registering online to join this initiative. Just choose as your beneficiary. This will not cost you anything, but the huskies will be extremely grateful and eager to demonstrate with kisses on our Open Days.

Secondly, the other way to assist is in helping us find new premises ASAP. It would need to have sufficient land to accommodate all huskies and the staff needed to care for them. We trust that the new premises will have facilities to promote our vision of using huskies as therapy dogs, for both adults and children alike.

Thirdly, once premises have been located, assistance will definitely be required in moving all the huskies to the new location.
