Velddrif Visvang offers Boat rentals on the Berg River and Langebaan Lagoon for the fishing enthusiast wishing to explore the exciting waters of the Berg River to target species such as Leervis, Elf, Kob using lures or Fly fishing. The Berg River is a pristine estuary and offers some of the best fishing for varieties such as Garrick and Elf. We support a catch and release policy to preserve our precious fish stocks.

La Nino weather has certainly been hacing an affected on the weather over Veldrif the last few days. Monday we were out up the river. A perfect sunset with not a breath of wind and the tide perfect for elf. Within 2 minutes the wind changed 180 deg and we were hit with winds of 40knts. The temp dropoed by 10deg and the huge thunder clouds rolled over. Minutes later a mist bank rolled in from the north.
The lightning started and we had to make our way back to veldrif in a crazy storm with lightening bolts north of veldrif.
We managed to get back just before the lighting hit veldrif.
We had the most spectacular electrical storm over the sea all night. Windyty showed the eye sitting right over Veldrif.
Just showed the power of nature and to always be prepared.

The good winter rains have flushed the river of all tue stagnant w**d and has seen a lots if bait fish entering the river.
The leerie are very active and give some incredible fishing when you have to hunt them and catch on top water lures.
Some very big Elf swimming with the Leerie too.
Renting a boat provides you with the best opportunity of reaching all the best spots to fish.

Velddrif is in for a good season.
A fantastic windless day ans esrly mor ing start but all was quite. However we did a trio up the river in the afternoon to check the usual spots for leerie as there is a lot of bait fish in the river at the moment.
Came across the leerie feeding on the incoming tide. Smashing the bait fish all over the place.
Insane time with very strong fish. The largest over 70cm and most 60cm.all safely released to swim another day and maintain our incredible estuary.
Both our boats are available for hire to get in on the action.

Little break from the fishing this weekend to take advantage of the Crayfish weekend.
Launching from Jacobs Baai the Dart 400 takes on a choppy sea with ease.
Some monster caught om Saturday but generally had to look hard to get qouta.
Fimished with a cold IPA at Paternoster Brewery.
The West Coast has so many hidden secrets and amazing fishimg whichlooks like it is goimg to be a great season on the Berg River.

A perfect morning out on the river.
Leeries smashing the bait fish all around the boat so it looks like its going to be a good season.
So lucky to have a magnificent estuary like this with such abundant fish life and some of the best bird life and no polution
