FOOD RESCUE
IGNITE REVOLUTION 🔥 (explained)

WHY DO FOODS HAVE A “SELL BY” DATE? 🤔🍞
Have you ever wondered what the “sell by” date on your food really means?
A sell by date is not an expiry date. It’s simply a guideline for stores — telling them how long to display a product for sale to ensure peak quality.

👉 Important to know:
Food is often still perfectly safe to eat after the sell by date
It may lose a bit of freshness, but it is not automatically spoiled
Many foods (like dry goods, canned items, and even some fresh produce) can last days, weeks or months longer

So why is so much food thrown away?
Because many people misunderstand these dates — and perfectly good food ends up in the bin instead of on a plate.

FOOD RESCUE PROGRAMME 💚🍲 sponsored by SA Harvest

We are committed to turning surplus food into hope.
Through our Food Rescue Programme

We at Ignite Revolution:
✔️ Collect food that stores can no longer sell
✔️ Carefully inspect and sort every item
✔️ Ensure all food is still safe and good for consumption
✔️ Pack and distribute it to families in need

We stand by one important principle:
IF WE WOULDN’T EAT IT OURSELVES WE WON’T GIVE IT OUT.

IMPACT THAT MATTERS 🙌
Through this partnership, we are able to:
✨ Reduce food waste
✨ Feed families facing real hardship
✨ Restore dignity and hope in our communities

What some may see as “unsellable” we see as an opportunity to serve, uplift, and make a real difference.
Remember: A date on a package doesn’t always determine its value.
