Structural rigidity is what the Balance 464 & 502 Carbon Core is built on. Stiffness is the primary goal. Speed follows.

Carbon fibre resists bending and twisting far more effectively than fibreglass. A stiffer hull means less flex when driving through rough offshore seas. Less flex means the rig loads stay consistent, the boat points higher, and accelerates cleanly out of waves.

Greg Bertish is a Cape Town big wave surfer. A man who has spent his life reading the ocean and chasing waves.

In his early 30s, a rare tropical bacterial infection attacked his heart. He used visualisation, optimism, and his love for the ocean to survive.

Then he looked at the tiny baby in the bed next to him, also recovering from heart surgery, and something shifted. He stopped thinking about what had happened to him and started thinking about what he could do for others.

That moment became the base for everything that followed and is at the heart of The Little Optimist Foundation.

As Greg recovers from his most recent surgery, the foundation's mission continues. Balance Catamarans is proud to stand behind it.

The interior of a Balance catamaran is engineered in parallel with the hull. Not as a finishing touch, but integrated into the process from the beginning.

This happens when the naval architects also design the interior. Du Toit Yacht Design collaborated deeply with Phil, the Balance build team and owners to align form, function, and structural logic from the inside out.

These photos are from an early visit to St Francis Bay of the full scale furniture mockups for the new 540. Some of those designs have already evolved. That's intentional.

This is what we mean by livability as a performance feature.
