In mineral processing, getting the pH “close enough” isn't always enough.

A flotation circuit is a carefully controlled chemical environment.

Change the pH, and you can change how minerals and reagents interact. That can influence mineral selectivity and the way the flotation process responds.

So where does lime come in?

Lime can be used to raise and control pH, helping create the alkaline conditions required by certain mineral-processing circuits.

But there's an important part that often gets overlooked:

There isn't a universal “add this much lime” formula.

Ore characteristics, mineralogy, process conditions and water chemistry can all influence lime demand.

That means lime isn't simply an ingredient added to the process.

It's part of the chemistry behind the process.

Swipe through to see why pH control matters in mineral processing — and where lime fits into the picture.

Clear water does not always mean everything is working as it should.

Some of the biggest factors affecting water treatment are things you cannot always see.

pH, hardness, dissolved minerals and suspended solids can all affect how a treatment process performs.

Lime can support pH adjustment, hardness reduction and chemical precipitation in suitable treatment systems. But the right result depends on understanding the water and applying the correct dose.

Water treatment is not only about removing what you can see.

The chemistry of the water matters too.

Factors such as pH, hardness, dissolved substances and suspended solids can all affect how a treatment process performs.

That is where lime can play an important role.

Water Purification Lime can support pH adjustment, hardness reduction and chemical precipitation as part of suitable water treatment processes.

Choosing the right lime isn’t always as simple as picking a bag off the shelf.

Different lime products have different properties, applications and handling requirements.

Before choosing, consider what you’re treating, the conditions on site, how the lime will be applied, and the result you need.

Because the right product can save you more than money. It can save time, material and unnecessary rework.

Choosing the right lime isn’t just about picking a product.

The right choice depends on what you’re treating, the result you need, your site conditions, and how the lime will be applied.

Quicklime, hydrated lime, agricultural lime and hydraulic lime all have different properties and applications.

Choosing the wrong one can mean wasted material, extra work, delays and unnecessary costs.

A clean farm is about more than what you can see.

Moisture, waste, persistent odours and pest activity can all create hygiene challenges around livestock areas if they are left unmanaged.

Good farm hygiene starts with the basics:

-Keeping housing and bedding areas as dry as possible
-Managing waste and problem areas regularly
-Paying attention to persistent odours
-Monitoring areas where pests can become a problem
-Maintaining consistent cleaning and biosecurity practices

Hydrated lime can form part of that wider hygiene routine by helping manage moisture and create cleaner, more controlled conditions.
