🚗 UNITED WE STAND AGAINST E-HAILING EXPLOITATION & SLAVERY! ✊

To every brave South African E-hailing driver who turned off their app yesterday on October 7th and continues to stand ground today—WE SALUTE YOU! ✊🇿🇦

Your courage and unity are sending shockwaves across the entire country. Look at the proof: in areas where drivers have completely shut down, surge rates have soared past R10 per kilometer! That alone proves the power we hold when we stand united.

🛑 TO THE DRIVERS STILL ONLINE: WAKE UP!

To those drivers who are refusing to participate and keeping their apps active—why choose to remain a slave? Why betray the very brothers and sisters fighting to put food on your table? By staying online during this National Shutdown, you are sabotaging our collective future. You are helping big tech corporations keep us trapped in poverty.

This strike isn’t for an individual—this strike is for EVERY E-hailing driver in South Africa.

⛽ THE REALITY WE FACE DAILY

How long can we survive like this?

* Fuel is expensive.

* Vehicles and monthly installments are expensive

* Vehicle maintenance, repairs, and insurance are expensive

* Feeding and providing for our families is expensive

Yet, multinational app companies like Uber, Bolt, and InDrive continue to exploit us with slave rates while taking huge commissions. We want to work, earn a dignified living, care for our families, and save for retirement. We are not asking for handouts—we are demanding fair pay for our labor!

🏛️ WE ARE ON OUR OWN—POLITICIANS DON'T CARE

Let’s be honest: the government does not care about E-hailing drivers. The ANC government continues to oppress us with unfair policies and demarcations that threaten our livelihoods, force drivers to return home empty on expensive fuel, and create unnecessary conflict. Opposition parties like the DA, EFF, and MK are equally silent—none of them are fighting for us. Politicians collect huge salaries paid by our taxes while we, the taxpayers, suffer on the roads. We must fight for ourselves!

🔥 OUR ACTION PLAN & NON-NEGOTIABLE DEMANDS

1️⃣ OFFLINE UNTIL MIDNIGHT, OCTOBER 10TH: Keep your apps turned OFF 24/7 across all platforms (Uber, Bolt, InDrive) until midnight on October 10th. Do NOT allow any active E-hailing vehicles to operate in your territories while we are on strike.

2️⃣ MARCH ON OCTOBER 12TH, 2026: On Monday, October 12th, we will gather in numbers and march directly to the offices of Uber, Bolt, and InDrive!

OUR UNIFIED DEMANDS FOR ALL PLATFORMS:

* 🎯 R10 per kilometer minimum rate across all categories.

* 🎯 R50 minimum fare for every trip, regardless of distance.

AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL!

Turn off those apps, park your vehicles, and let the algorithms go dark. Together, we will win!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH:
National E-Hailing Shutdown — Stand Up Against Exploitation!

To Every E-Hailing Driver Across Mzansi:

The time to take a stand is now. For years, platform giants—Uber, Bolt, and InDrive—have been locked in a price war, undercutting each other to gain market share. But they are not paying for these low fares; we are. They are competing at our expense, driving our incomes into the ground and turning dedicated South African drivers into modern-day slaves.

We refuse to remain silent while our sweat builds their multi-billion-rand empires. E-hailing must be a profitable business, not a poverty trap.

Why We Are Shutting Down: The Math of Exploitation

We cannot survive on the current starvation rates. Every time we step into our vehicles, we are faced with skyrocketing expenses that eat away any tiny margin of earnings:

* Relentless Fuel Costs: Petrol and diesel prices continue to drain our pockets before we even earn a single Rand of profit.

* Extreme Vehicle Installments & Rentals: Thousands of drivers are falling behind on vehicle finance or weekly rentals because the rates do not cover basic capital costs.

* Soaring Insurance & Maintenance: E-hailing insurance premiums, routine servicing, and tyre replacements are non-negotiable operational costs that we bear alone.

* Essential Security Systems: In a country where driver safety is constantly threatened, installing tracking systems, dashcams, and emergency response tools comes directly out of our depleted bank accounts.

We are running a business, yet we are being forced to operate at a continuous loss. Who said we are happy to be slaves? Enough is enough!

Our Non-Negotiable Demands

We are calling for two fundamental base changes to bring dignity back to our profession:

1. R10 Per Kilometer Minimum Rate: No more algorithm games that force us to drive long distances for pocket change.

2. R50 Minimum Base Fare Per Ride: Every trip must start at R50 to ensure short-distance rides are economically viable and cover our operational setup.

The Strategy: Turn Off the Apps!

This shutdown is simple, safe, and powerful. We do not need to march on Uber, Bolt, or InDrive offices. We do not need to expose ourselves to conflict.

> Our power is on our screens. Our action is simple: SWITCH OFF THE DRIVER APPS.

Without our wheels turning, their apps are useless. When the drivers stop, the apps stop.

We call upon Epco, KZN E-Hailing Drivers, Soweto E-Hailing associations, Cape Town Driver Collectives, and every single driver group across all 9 provinces to unite under one banner.

Do not ask who is leading this national shutdown. YOU are the leader. The success of this strike depends on the unity and discipline of every driver in South Africa. If we all respond positively and stand together, the platforms will have no choice but to listen.

🚨 NATIONAL E-HAILING SHUTDOWN: OCTOBER 7–10, 2026 🚨

UNITED WE STAND AGAINST E-HAILING SLAVERY! TURN OFF YOUR DRIVER APPS FOR 24 HOURS A DAY!

To every E-hailing Driver and Vehicle Owner in South Africa — from Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Free State, North West, to the Northern Cape: THE TIME HAS COME TO TAKE A STAND!

This strike does not belong to any single faction, association, or union. It belongs to YOU, the hardworking drivers and owners who put your lives, vehicles, and sweat on the line every single day.

Starting from 00:00 on October 7th until 23:59 on October 10th, 2026, we are calling on ALL e-hailing drivers nationwide to perform a total app shutdown.

WHY WE ARE STRIKING: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

For years, platforms like Uber, Bolt, and InDrive have engaged in price wars at our direct expense. They slash fare prices to beat their competitors and attract passengers, while taking massive commissions from our hard-earned labor.

* Financial Devastation: We bought or rented cars as investments, but today we earn nothing. High fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, platform commissions, and continuous depreciation leave us with zero profit.

* Physical, Emotional & Mental Exhaustion: We work 14–18 hours a day, suffering physically, mentally, and emotionally, just to keep up with vehicle repayments.

* Corporate Exploitation: What kind of business model forces working men and women into modern-day slavery to line corporate pockets?

We cannot expect riders to fight this battle for us. They enjoy low fares and free rides at the expense of our tears and financial suffering.

This is OUR war, and it is up to us to take it seriously and fight it together.

OUR UNIFYING DEMANDS ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS

We are demanding fair pay and an immediate end to driver exploitation. We mandate the following unified rates across Uber, Bolt, inDrive, and all other app platforms:

1. R10 per Kilometer across all ride categories.

2. R50 Minimum Fare for any ride, regardless of how short the distance is.

A CALL TO ALL TOWNS, TOWNSHIPS, AND PROVINCES.

Whether you are driving in Soweto, Polokwane, Seshego, Middelburg, Rustenburg, Durban, Cape Town, Gqeberha, or Mbombela — EVERY driver must participate.

If your regional group or association refuses to join this national strike, recognize that they are turning a blind eye to the very slavery that affects your daily livelihood. Do not be greedy by working on these four days.

Sacrificing four days of income will secure a sustainable future for you and your family.

We urge all South African and international media outlets to investigate and report on this national crisis. South African e-hailing drivers are speaking out against corporate exploitation, wage dumping, and unfair working conditions. We call on journalists to bring our plight to light and hold these multinational platforms accountable.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO RIGHT NOW

1. Turn OFF your apps: Uber, Bolt, inDrive, and Uber Eats — keep them 100% offline from October 7 to October 10.

2. Spread the Word: If you have speaking skills, record videos and voice notes! Post them on Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and WhatsApp encouraging fellow drivers to stand firm.

NATIONAL SHUTDOWN: SOUTH AFRICAN E-HAILING DRIVERS STAND UP AGAINST SLAVERY! ✊🏾🇿🇦

From the 7th of October to the 10th of October 2026, every single E-hailing driver across Mzansi must turn off their apps! We are declaring a total, non-negotiable shutdown of all E-hailing platforms—Uber, Bolt, InDrive, and all others.

We have served this nation with dedication, driving day and night through dangerous conditions, but we refuse to remain modern-day slaves in our own country!

Our demands are clear, unified, and non-negotiable:

We demand a minimum rate of R10 per kilometre, and every single ride must start at a minimum base fare of R50 across ALL platforms!

We are human beings, professional transport workers, and breadwinners—not disposable pieces of code inside an algorithm.

Like all other workers in South Africa, we deserve a living wage and a future of dignity!

Every E-hailing association, regional group, and driver forum in every province, city, township, and village must step up to organize, facilitate, and ensure this shutdown is 100% successful.

No E-hailing driver should be seen on the roads, day or night, from October 7th to October 10th!

All driver groups must deploy representatives to every street corner to monitor and hold accountable anyone attempting to break the strike line and betray the cause.

Every single driver must be rallied to join this nationwide stand—we move as one!

To those who rent vehicles to drive: inform your vehicle owners and fleet managers immediately. Tell them we are going to war against corporate exploitation, and their cars will be parked for those four days!

Owner-operators, drivers, and fleet workers are taking a stand together. A few days of sacrifice now will secure a sustainable, profitable future for all of us!

To the media, news journalists, and broadcasters: we demand that you tell our truth to the world! Report on how foreign app companies profit billions off our sweat while we drown in fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, insurance payments, tracking fees, and vehicle finance debt!

Tell the world how we risk our lives every single day on South African roads, facing violent crime, hijackings, and fatal accidents from exhaustion—yet no one cares!

To our government and traffic law enforcement: stop bullying and targeting E-hailing drivers! We are not criminals; we are honest, hard-working citizens driving the economic engine of South Africa.

Stop impounding our vehicles and harassing workers who are simply trying to feed their families!

We demand government protection, proper industry regulation, and recognition as key transportation professionals!

We are drawing a line in the sand. Like the historic struggles of South African workers before us, we will stand ground and fight relentlessly for our fundamental human rights, fair compensation, and safety.

If Uber, Bolt, InDrive, and the government refuse to respect us and grant fair rates, they are choosing a path of continuous disruption and direct confrontation.

Enough is enough! Switch off the apps on October 7th! Share this message to every WhatsApp group, page, and driver network across South Africa and the world!

SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL E-HAILING DRIVERS STRIKE: 3-DAY TOTAL SHUTDOWN!✊🏾🇿🇦

UNITED DRIVERS STRONGER TOGETHER! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH E-HAILING SLAVERY AND EXPLOITATION!

For too long, the hard-working drivers of South Africa have carried the heavy burden of corporate greed, sky-rocketing fuel prices, inflation, and unsustainable platform commission rates. While app platforms profit billions off our labor, drivers are left drowning in debt, vehicle maintenance, and unsafe working conditions.

The time for waiting is over. Solidarity is our power!

🚨 THE DETAILS OF THE SHUTDOWN

* DATES: From 7th October until 10th October 2026

* DURATION: 3 Days / 24-Hour Continuous Strike

* TARGET: ALL E-Hailing Platforms including Uber, Bolt, inDrive, and all other operator applications operating across South Africa.

NO E-HAILING DRIVER SHOULD BE SEEN ON THE ROAD DRIVING OR ACCEPTING REQUESTS FROM CLIENTS DURING THESE 3 DAYS. Complete app switch-off across all provinces, cities, and townships!

✊ OUR UNCOMPROMISING DEMANDS

We are taking a firm, united stand to demand fair living earnings and dignity for all operators:

1. R10 PER KILOMETRE — Standardized base distance rate across ALL e-hailing platforms operating in South Africa (Bolt, Uber, inDrive, and others).

2. R50 MINIMUM FARE — Every trip under 5 kilometres must start at a minimum base rate of R50. Nothing less!

3. END EXPLOITATION & SLAVERY — Stop unfair driver deactivations, excessive platform commission percentages, and unviable promotional rates forced upon drivers.

📢 A DIRECT MESSAGE TO STAKEHOLDERS

* TO ALL E-HAILING DRIVERS & OWNER-OPERATORS:
Prepare yourselves, switch off your apps, park your vehicles, and unite! Stand ground with your fellow drivers. Do not break the line. A temporary sacrifice today ensures a sustainable future and fair rates for tomorrow!

* TO ALL E-HAILING ASSOCIATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS & GROUPS:

Mobilize, coordinate, and lead from the front! Every leadership committee and regional driver group across South Africa must actively promote, facilitate, and enforce unity for this national strike.

* TO APP PLATFORMS (UBER, BOLT, INDRIVE & OTHERS):

Consider this an official, unequivocal notice. South African drivers will no longer tolerate working under conditions of economic servitude. Meet our demands for fair pricing structures or prepare for complete operational paralysis across the country.

* TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT & GOVERNMENT:

We demand regulation, oversight, and decisive government intervention against international and local app companies taking advantage of South African citizens without accountability. E-hailing is public transportation, and our labor rights must be protected under South African law!

We call upon all TV, radio, digital, and print media outlets to amplify the voice of South African workers fighting against algorithmic exploitation and economic hardship.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: E-hailing drivers are NOT modern-day slaves! 🛑🚗

Every single day, South African e-hailing drivers and vehicle owners risk their safety, wear out their cars, and spend thousands on skyrocketing fuel costs—only to take home pennies.

Platforms like Uber, Bolt, and InDrive are competing in a race to the bottom by undercharging trip rates. But they aren't paying for that discount—WE ARE.

While these platforms pull in massive profits, drivers and car owners are left with unpaid bills, damaged vehicles, and zero financial security. Working 14-hour days just to survive isn't a partnership; it's exploitation.

🔥 OUR DEMANDS ARE SIMPLE AND FAIR:

📍 Minimum R10 per kilometre across all platforms.

🛑 R50 minimum base fare for every single ride.

We cannot afford to keep quiet while our hard work enriches global corporations at our expense. Unity is our only power. If we don't stand together today, our lives and livelihoods will never change.

AN OPEN LETTER TO BOLT, UBER, INDRIVE, AND ALL E-HAILING PLATFORMS OPERATING IN SOUTH AFRICA

To the Executive Leadership, Directors, and Platform Stakeholders,

We write this open letter on behalf of thousands of South African e-hailing drivers who take to the roads daily to power your multi-million-rand operations. We are the backbone of your business model, yet we are being pushed into extreme poverty by a system defined by unsustainable fare structures, aggressive discounting, and platform exploitation.

The current economic reality facing drivers is no longer just unfair—it is unviable.

The Math of Exploitation

You do not buy our fuel. You do not pay our vehicle insurance. You do not pay our car installments, service bills, or replacement tyres. You pay us no salary or benefits. Yet, you dictate bottom-tier pricing while shifting 100% of the operational and financial risk onto the driver.

When a driver spends R26.92 per litre on petrol and drives 8 kilometres only for a platform to calculate a fare that leaves them with R1.60 net return, the system is fundamentally broken. You cannot buy a loaf of bread to feed a family with R1.60. Expecting drivers to maintain high service standards, professionalism, and customer service under these conditions is an insult to our dignity.

Violations of Human Rights and Constitutional Protections

This structure borders on economic bo***ge. While platforms hide behind the label of "independent contractors," the reality on the ground reflects modern economic servitude.

* Section 13 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa strictly states that "No one may be subjected to slavery, servitude or forced labour." Trapping drivers in an ecosystem where they work 14 to 16 hours a day simply to cover platform-dictated costs without earning a living wage violates the spirit of our constitutional freedoms.

* Section 23 of the Constitution guarantees everyone the right to fair labour practices, while international human rights standards—including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 23) —assert that everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring an existence worthy of human dignity.

Enriched platform balance sheets should not be built on the tears, debt, and exhaustion of South African citizens.

Our Demands

1. A Standardized Rate of R10 per Kilometre: We demand a baseline rate of R10/km across all platforms nationwide to reflect true vehicle running costs and inflation.

2. Immediate End to Predatory Discounts: Platform-funded discounts and promotional rates must stop undercutting driver earnings.

3. Government Regulation: We call upon the Department of Transport and the South African government to urgently step in and regulate e-hailing tariffs to protect drivers from arbitrary price-slashing.

A Call to the South African Taxi Associations

We extend a direct plea to our brothers and sisters in the traditional Taxi Associations across South Africa: Join us in this fight.

Unregulated, artificially low e-hailing rates do not just hurt e-hailing drivers—they undercut the entire public transport ecosystem, threatening the survival of the taxi industry as well. A regulated, fair pricing model of R10/km creates a sustainable, balanced transport economy that benefits both traditional taxi operators and e-hailing drivers alike. Divided we fall, but united we can ensure transport workers across South Africa receive fair compensation.

A Call to Action for All Drivers

We appeal to every e-hailing driver across Gauteng, the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and all nine provinces: Spread this letter. Share this message to every group, tag media outlets, send it to government departments, and alert political leaders.

Follow and share this page today. We need every driver united under one voice, alongside our allies in the taxi industry, to bring an end to economic slavery and secure a fair, regulated future for all transport workers in South Africa.

Stand Together or Go Solo:

Now is the Moment for Soweto E-hailing Drivers to Come Together!

For far too long, the algorithms of these platforms have controlled our income, diminishing our earnings and treating our efforts as if they don’t matter. We find ourselves stuck in a cycle of digital servitude—but this is only because we let ourselves stay split apart.

Real bargaining strength lies in unity. We need to create a strong front that can confront the unfair practices of Uber, Bolt, and InDrive. The Soweto E-hailing Drivers page is here to be our main hub for organization, strategy, and support.

Reclaim your future:

* Follow this page right now to keep updated and in sync with our collective effort.

* Spread this message throughout every driver group, rank, and network you are part of.

* Rally your fellow drivers to join the cause—our strength is entirely in our numbers.

Change won’t come from individual complaints; it will be achieved through organized unity. Follow the page, share the message, and let’s create the power we need to ensure fair income, safety, and respect for every driver on the road.

The primary reason we are struggling to combat E-hailing app companies is due to our fear and lack of unity.

Companies like Bolt, Uber, and InDrive face no real loss in this industry; they leverage technology and AI to control us, the E-hailing drivers, while taking a significant cut of our earnings.

As E-hailing drivers, we have invested in costly vehicles, and many of us are still making payments on them. Some are renting vehicles for R2000 a week, while others pay over R3500 weekly to rent from these E-hailing companies. This indicates that firms like Bolt, Uber, and InDrive are profiting by taking advantage of us, the drivers.

We must unite and demand that Uber, Bolt, and InDrive raise their rates. We are seeking R10 per kilometer, with a minimum fare of R50 per ride, as the current E-hailing rates in South Africa do not serve our interests. We are essentially enslaved by these E-hailing companies, and this situation will persist until we stand together with a unified voice.

We encourage all E-hailing drivers to invite their peers to follow this page and to join local E-hailing groups. We have a strategy in place to advocate for our rights as drivers.

It's important to understand that the public may not support our cause, as they benefit from the low rates offered by E-hailing services, while we, the drivers, remain subservient to these app companies.

Open Letter: A Declaration of Independence and Fair Pricing.

To: The Management of Bolt, Uber, InDrive, and all E-hailing Platforms operating in South Africa
From: The Soweto E-hailing Drivers
Subject: Formal Notice of Independent Pricing Implementation

Dear Service Providers,

We, the E-hailing drivers of Soweto, are writing this open letter to formally notify you that we are no longer willing to operate under a pricing structure that disregards our dignity, our livelihoods, and the economic reality of South Africa.

For too long, we have watched as the cost of fuel, vehicle maintenance, spare parts, insurance, and tracking systems has skyrocketed, while our earnings have remained stagnant or declined. We are no longer willing to be "slaves" to an algorithm that enriches global corporations while leaving us unable to feed our families or educate our children. Working long hours for "hand-to-mouth" ends today.

Effective immediately, we have implemented our own standardized pricing system for all trips originating in Soweto:

* Minimum Fare: Every ride starts from a base rate of R70 (for distances less than 7km).
* Mall Pickups: All trips starting from any Soweto Shopping Mall will start from a minimum of R100.
* Distance Rate: For trips exceeding 10km, a flat rate of R10 per kilometer will apply.
* No Discounts: We no longer recognize or accept app-generated discounts or "low-price" promotions at the driver's expense.

Our Operational Protocol:
We will continue to use your platforms to receive requests. However, upon arrival or through direct communication, we will inform the client of our manual pricing. If your apps are not adjusted to reflect these sustainable rates, it will lead to unnecessary confusion for the community and the clients—a situation that can be avoided if you choose to align your technology with the local economic reality.

Our Call to Action:
We expect an official announcement regarding a price increase in South Africa that meets these expectations. We encourage you to use your own apps to inform clients that these changes are necessary for the survival of the industry and the well-being of the drivers who keep your platforms running.

To Our Fellow Drivers:
Whether you are on Bolt, Uber, or InDrive, the time for unity is now. Join our local groups, learn how to communicate these new rates professionally to our clients, and let us reshape this business together.

Nobody should be a slave in South Africa anymore. We are professionals, we are providers, and we will be treated as such.

Enough is enough.

Sincerely,

The Soweto E-hailing Drivers
