This is the infamous traffic circle just outside Worcester on the R60 which was built a few years ago.
It has to be the worst design we’ve ever seen. This road carries a lot of commercial traffic. Large trucks struggle to negotiate the tight radius of the circle and the lanes leading into and out of the circle are very narrow. Several accidents have occurred here with some vehicles having driven straight over the circle, ripping out parts of their undercarriages.
The concept was to create smooth traffic flow from a new industrial zone at the bottom of the image. A three way stop or traffic light would have been far cheaper and perfectly effective.
The designer needs to rethink this one. Make the circle bigger or just remove it altogether. It’s a disaster.
