Cycling in the rural areas of Poland and Slovakia where English is not an official language was interesting.The only language people could understand was Russian,Polish,and Dutch.

When I was in DRC 2019-2021 I was working as part of Aeromedical Evacuation Team (AMET) based in Mavivi Beni North of DRC and I also spent some time in Goma which is next to Rwanda.We provided support to the DRC army and UN security forces in one of the most volatile region of DRC known as the Triangle.We used to fly with Ukrainian and Russian MI 8 Helicopters that were used in the Russia/Ukraine war. I managed to pick up Swahili, French and Russian/Ukrainian phrases, and the Russian/Ukrainian definitely helped during my cycling adventure from Poland to Slovakia.

One day I will talk about my 2 year stay in the DRC, and how I not only survived the Ebola epidemic and the Nyiragongo Volcanic eruption 🌋, which killed about 32 people and destroyed properties in Goma. But how I made long lasting friendships, learned 4 languages, swam in the Lake Kivu, and ignited my love to travel the world and experience different cultures. This is the one story of how one of these friendship led me to Poland, as my starting point in my cycling journey to the Berlin marathon.
