The largest palace in Europe:
discover the Roval Palace of Caserta. This baroque masterpiece, built in the 18th century for King Charles Ill of Bourbon, to compete with the Palace of Versailles, combines architecture, decoration and history.
Designed by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli, the palace is gigantic. In addition to its many works of art, frescoes and 500 statues, it has more than 1,200 rooms including a large gallery 120 meters long, a chapel, and a theater.
The gardens of the palace are a real jewel with their paths, statues and fountains and no less than 20 waterfalls.
The palace is also a great place for photo enthusiasts, with its many facades, rooftops and balconies offering stunning views of the surroundings.
The Royal Palace of Caserta is located in Caserta, Campania, 30 km north of Naples. It is an excellent starting point for exploring other wonders of the area, such as Naples, Pompeii and Herculaneum.
