Update on Zombie... up until Monday, you still had to stimulate Zombie's mouth opening reflex with a syringe for him to bite down on solid food. This week he started eating his veggie bled from a teaspoon. One step closer to him completely eating on his own again.

This week has been one of celebration. Zombie has started eating solids again. Zombie is a rescue who had to be syringe fed, but this week he again started eating solids.

To get Zombie to eat solids, our daughter has been offering him solid food each time he opens his mouth for the syringe feed, every second day, since he became part of our family in December.

It is really awesome to see her love and persistence pay off. Next step, getting him to eating solid food out of his bowl and not just when offered by hand.

Today Ross took Ebony (the large red tail boa), Noodle (the corn snake) and Butterball (the butterball ball python) to visit the Pinkmatter team at their offices.

It was such an awesome visit and everyone enjoyed the photo op with our leading lady Ebony.

Babby Snouted Cobra that was removed from a residence last week. This snake is only 40cm long . They can grow up to 2.5m.

Mozambique spitting cobra also known as a “Mfezi”. Highly venomous!! We removed this one from the Pretoria East area last week.

They can spit venom very accurately. Please do not try to catch OR Kill this Snake .

A few months ago we removed 2 short snouted grass snakes during 2 seperate calls.... a male and a female. They lived by our pond at home for the last couple of months.... last week we could relocate these 2 plus a baby that was born to the wetland close to our home (away from the dogs and chickens around our home)

The kids loved checking up on our visitors and the joy of the arrival of the baby was so special.

Unfortunately when Zombie reached the vet who nursed him back to health he looked like a piece of biltong 😭 and one of the complications he retained was that he is blind in the one eye, you can see the difference between his eyes in the pics below.

Zombie and another beardie were picked up and taken to the vet. Both were severely dehydrated. This often happens when people release their exotic pets into the wild if they can no longer look after them..... please never release your exotics into the wild. Rather contact us and we will help you to rehome them.
