As part of the ongoing nationwide campaign, today, the C-BRTA and other law enforcement authorities impounded a bus heading from Johannesburg to Zimbabwe, at the Musina TCC.

The bus was loaded with passengers with valid passports. The bus was taken to the Musina testing station where the bus failed the road worthy test due to oil leaks, loose wires and roadworthy condition.

As part of the ongoing nationwide campaign, today, the C-BRTA and other law enforcement authorities impounded a bus heading to Johannesburg from Malawi, at the Boabab Toll Plaza, Musina.

The bus was loaded with 65 passengers with valid passports. Upon inspection, it was discovered that, the bus is not road worthy, as it had missing wheel nuts and bolts, worn out tyres and the exhaust pipe has been tightened with a wire.

The vehicle was taken to the Musina testing station where it was certified that the brakes were malfunctioning and had a lot of AEM defects.

This bus posed a significant risk to other road users. The C-BRTA is committed to reducing carnages through enforcing compliance and raising awareness about road safety.

The C-BRTA's Road Traffic Inspectorate and other 👮 Law enforcement officers are on duty to ensure that, all cross-border buses, taxis and trucks are certified to be on the SA roads.

Cross-Border operators are urged to come on board, and to help in curbing unsafe road behaviour and illegal cross-border operations on South African roads.

The C-BRTA, in collaboration with other law enforcement authorities, continue to crack down on illegal cross-border operations and unsafe road user behaviour.

During an operation conducted at Komatipoort, Mpumalanga, from 26 May to 31 May 2026, the following enforcement actions were recorded:
• 655 vehicle inspections conducted
• 102 prosecutions issued

Vehicles impounded:
• 3 bakkies with trailers
• 2 panel van minibuses with trailers

Offences detected included:
• Operating without a Cross-Border Road Transport Permit
• Driving without a valid driver's licences
• Vehicles and trailers without licence discs

The C-BRTA remains committed to strengthening compliance, promoting road safety, and protecting lawful cross-border transport operations.

The C-BRTA and other law enforcement authorities are currently curbing unsafe road behaviour and illegal cross-border operations at Baobab Toll Plaza, Musina, Limpopo Province.

The following arrests have been made:
• Total smart vehicle reads 1219
• 02 fraudulent permit arrests
• 02 fraudulent license disc arrest
• 50 Undocumented foreigners were deported
• 2884 Inspections conducted
• 07 impoundment buses and taxis
• 01 Bribery, and
• 01 drunken driving.

This is a nationwide campaign and the C-BRTA and other law enforcement authorities will continue curbing unsafe road behaviour and illegal cross-border operations.
