Imagine spending your time in the Western Cape learning how wildlife is monitored, helping restore natural habitats, contributing to conservation research and seeing what happens behind the scenes of a working conservation area.

Our Western Cape Wildlife & Habitat Conservation Program gives volunteers the opportunity to become part of real conservation work while learning alongside an experienced local team.

Activities may include wildlife tracking, cheetah telemetry, meerkat behaviour monitoring, camera-trap research, conservation data collection, habitat restoration, reserve maintenance and selected community and environmental initiatives. Because this is a real conservation environment, activities change according to wildlife movements, weather and the current priorities of the reserve.

Most importantly, this isn't about touching or posing with wildlife. Animals remain wild and the focus is responsible observation, research and conservation.

No previous conservation experience is required — just a genuine interest in wildlife, a willingness to learn and a readiness to get involved.

Go beyond the safari and experience what conservation really looks like on the ground.

Our new Western Cape Wildlife & Habitat Conservation Program gives volunteers the chance to take part in meaningful, practical conservation work while learning alongside an experienced local team in one of South Africa’s most beautiful regions.

Depending on current conservation priorities, your time may include wildlife tracking and monitoring, cheetah telemetry, meerkat behaviour observations, camera-trap research, conservation data collection, habitat restoration, seed-ball projects, reserve maintenance and other hands-on field activities.

This is about more than seeing wildlife. It’s about understanding the connection between wildlife, healthy habitats and the people who live alongside protected areas.

No previous conservation experience is required — just a willingness to learn, contribute, work outdoors and be part of the team.

At Impact Volunteers Africa, we keep the process simple, personal and clear from the very first enquiry.

Here’s how it works:

2️⃣ Send us your preferred dates and length of stay
3️⃣ Receive full program details, costs, inclusions and exclusions
4️⃣ We check availability directly with the host project
5️⃣ Once your dates are confirmed, you complete your registration and booking
6️⃣ Then we help you prepare for your trip ✈️

One thing that is especially important to us: we do not ask you to pay the IVA registration fee before your dates have been checked and confirmed.

You’ll know what the program involves, what it costs and what to expect before you decide to proceed.
