LIMPOPO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DEBUNKS CLAIMS OF NURSE ATTACK AT MAHWELERENG CLINIC
The Limpopo Department of Health has dismissed claims that nurses at Mahwelereng Clinic 1 were attacked, labeling them as untrue.
According to Neil Shikwambana, spokesperson for the department, the incident in question was actually a case of mob justice gone wrong. Community members had caught a man stealing from a house in Mahwelereng and proceeded to beat him. The suspect managed to escape and ran to the nearby clinic seeking refuge.
However, the community members pursued him to the clinic, prompting security personnel to intervene by closing the gates and preventing further violence. The police were subsequently called to the scene to rescue the suspect and restore order.
Shikwambana noted that some community members even applauded the security personnel for their swift action in closing the gates, thereby preventing the situation from escalating further.
In light of this development, the public is urged to rely on credible sources of information and avoid spreading misinformation that may cause unnecessary panic and harm.
