Lochinvar National Park, Kafue Flats, Zambia

This off-the-beaten-track park is an absolute gem, and I have such fond memories of a trip there many years ago.

How about all those African Skimmers in the first pic? And the bounding Kafue Lechwe in the second? The third pic is one of my favourite photos - abundant flocks of Black-winged Pratincoles dancing in the sky.

Happy Earth Day 🌍

I puzzled about a picture to post today…and have settled on Antarctica 🇦🇶. It is the most beautiful and pristine place on our planet. The best thing about Antarctica though, is that it belongs to everyone. Not any single country owns Antarctica. Some countries have made claims - but all of these claims have been suspended. That’s good news for Antarctica, and good news for the Earth.

Antartica belongs to Mother Earth. And I think that’s just wonderful.

Frank Wild, who was Sir Ernest Shakleton’s right hand man, and very experienced Antarctic explorer, famously said “Once you’ve been to the white unknown, you can never escape the call of little voices, calling you back”. I fully understand and agree with him - I yearn to be back down there.

We’re onboarding new freelance guides, gearing up for our busy season. Day one we focused on the city, and all the history, culture and hidden gems. Day two saw us exploring the winelands, heading off the beaten track to some of our favourite farms 🍷

Two day loop hiking around the South Western most tip of Africa 🥾🥾

Vistas for days, beaches with no footprints, spectacular sunsets and lots of fun and laughter with fellow guides, and making new friends! Always good to find some new off the beaten trails to get our guests far from the madding crowds!
