I'm a Biker, so please understand a few things.....
The two-car lengths I leave between the car in front of me isn't for you to cut me off! It is a legal requirement in this country to leave a gap AND contrary to popular belief, I cannot stop my bike instantly!
I speed up when in your blind spot, not to race you, but so you can see me.
When in the lane, I ride in the right third so you can see me. This is not for you to share my lane with me. It is illegal for you to do this.
I am allowed to legally lane split up to 10 kmph faster than what you are driving. Lane splitting is riding between two lanes. So move out of my space, don’t block me and don’t swerve at me. I am allowed to do this for BOTH my and your safety.
Please put your phone down and stop SMS’ing, because the life you save may be mine or yours. It is illegal to answer a phone call while driving AND to SMS.
Remember to share the road.
When making a lane change, please use the little devices on your vehicle known as MIRRORS! I recommend utilising them and the neck the good Lord gave you instead of just taking position in the very lane I possess.
Those little yellow blinking things are indicators. You have to, according to the law, indicate BEFORE you change lane, not just change lane without indicating or during and definitely not after you already have changed lane.
Just because you have a huge 4x4 does not mean you have right of way on the road.
We ride with high-beams on at all times; this is so you can see me day or night! Also remember it is a legal requirement for bike headlights to be on at all times. No, I can’t shut if off!
So please watch out for this Biker and all my Brothers and Sisters. We will all be better off, and I will be alive!
I pay a vehicle licence fee just like you, don’t park on parking spaced designated for bikes and them moan when I park in a normal space. Also I am allowed to park in a normal parking space just like you.
If you're my biker friend or a friend driving a car and agree, please feel free to copy and paste or share as far and wide as you can! Let's see how far this can go to educate all.
