Thank you Fleetwatch and Patrick, its sad to see such a big supplier exiting the market but given the facts stated in the article it will be the first of many, we have been raising the same questions in the office as read in the article.
If the client states βi can get someone cheaperβ or βmake a plan its too expensiveβ that βplanβ is you cutting your business down not theirs. Rather walk away and stand by whats right and what you need to charge, dont only think for today, if you only think for today, you wont have a tomorrow to go into. If the client is unwilling to accept your charge and understand that you are looking after the well being of your business then walk away, you will find another order and you will be able to keep your business running.
If you start running under cost it will only be a matter of time untill you have to shut your doors and the client shall continue to the next supplier.
Its a reality that our operating costs have almost doubled in the last 12 months, and these facts need to be made clear and understood to clients, we should not have to place it in black and white to clients but if they cant assist in you sustaining your business, walk away on good terms with the client 9 out of 10 they will return. Rather cut your fleet size and keep your business profitable, than to have a big fleet and not earn any money.
No one wants to lose a client, yet no one wants to lose their business as well.
There is a lot more which needs to be said regarding the road freight industry and its current market affairs , such as another point raised, financing customers, which needs to be stopped, as well as the 15 day cut off or the fact which no pods get processed for payment over december but clients are happy to run accounts into hundreds of thousands or even millions but choose to not process for payments as its convenient for the transporters to carry those burdens for them, but that will be for another day, maybe, just maybe the national transport minister shall step up and change legislation regarding the road freight industry to provide reform and return to it the grand industry it once was, making it clear transporters need to be paid in due time, setting fixed rate charges to level the playing field and put the ball back in the transporters hands
But for now, Keep safe, keep trucking ππ¨

An internal memorandum to staff of Massyn Vervoer which was leaked onto social media has caused huge confusion with most reading it as an announcement of the company closing. This is not true. Massyn Vervoer has not been put into...
