Here are five tips to help you save on currency exchange.

1. Plan Ahead

2. Understand Foreign Exchange Costs
Some foreign exchange costs can be transparent and others can be hidden, so it is important to understand what you are paying for. Just like every other company, foreign exchange providers need to make a profit to stay in business. The following are three ways in which providers make money:

Currency providers may charge a commission, flat fee, handling fee, or minimum charge
They may include a spread in exchange rates by buying currencies at one rate and selling them at another – with a margin included
FX providers may also charge transfer fees for wire transfers and other delivery methods

3. Consolidate your Transactions

EARTHQUAKES - LIVE TURKISH TV COVERATE OF SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

UPDATE - The European Commission has activated the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
It is coordinating the sending of rescue teams from Member States to join the search for survivors after the earthquakes that shook southeast Turkey and other neighboring countries, especially Syria.
Rescue teams from the Netherlands and Romania are already on the way to the affected area.

PORTUGAL NATIONWIDE PORT ADMINISTRATION EMPLOYEES ON STRIKE FROM JANUARY 2-30. YOU MAY BEGIN TO NOTICE FOOD SUBSTITIONS IN STORES AND DELAYS TO SOME PRODUCT AVAILABILITY.

Disruptions to port operations across Portugal as of Jan. 2 amid a port administration employees strike scheduled through Jan. 30.

The strike called by the National Union of Workers of Port Administrations (SNTAP) is expected to last through Jan. 30. The Port of Leixoes, in Matosinhos, is reportedly the most affected. Participants are demanding a review of the proposed 2023 wage.

Disruptions to port operations, including general cargo services, are almost certain during the strike. Lingering shipping delays could persist after the action ends as port workers clear any backlogs. Related protests are possible near sea ports.

Advice

Confirm maritime shipments and port-handling operations in Portugal ports through Jan. 30. Exercise caution near port areas; avoid any potential protests.
