During Women’s Month, we sat down with several women from across South Africa’s aviation industry to hear their stories, experiences, and insights. ✈️

From the paths that brought them into aviation to the challenges they have encountered, the lessons they have learned, and their perspectives on how the industry is changing, each conversation offered something different.

Among the women who shared their insights with us were Bonolo Matjila, Business Development Lawyer at Dentons South Africa; Joy-Ann Smyth, Quality Manager at Federal Airlines; and Phillippa Dean, Editor of African Pilot Magazine — alongside several other women working across our industry.

Their roles may be different, but together their stories provide a fascinating look at the people and perspectives helping to shape aviation today.

No aviation business should stand alone.

When government policy changes, regulations evolve, or industry challenges arise, a collective voice carries more influence than any individual organisation.

That is why CAASA exists.

Representing commercial and general aviation since 1944, CAASA brings together operators, AMOs, training organisations, helicopter operators, unmanned aviation specialists, airport operators, and aviation service providers under one unified industry voice.

Become part of the association that advocates for the future of aviation.
