The future of African rail will not be built by one organisation alone — it will take collaboration, investment and a shared commitment to unlocking the sector’s potential.

On Tuesday, 1 September 2026, Traxtion welcomed representatives from our (direct and indirect) shareholders, Harith, the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) to our Rail Services Hub in Pretoria for a Traxtion Insights Session.

The visit provided an opportunity for these important stakeholders in our business to gain deeper insight into Traxtion’s operations, capabilities, experience and capacity to support the growth and development of the African rail sector.

The discussions reinforced the importance of strong public-private partnerships and strategic investment in building a more resilient, efficient and sustainable rail sector across the continent. We are grateful to Harith, GEPF and DBSA for joining us and for the valuable perspectives shared during the session. Through collaboration and shared ambition, we can help shape a stronger future for African rail — one that enables greater connectivity, unlocks economic opportunity and contributes meaningfully to Africa’s growth and development.

At this year’s The Future of Rail is Woman event, the real showstopper was the Rail Fair — where high school learners put their STEM knowledge to work, developing innovative solutions to real-world rail challenges.

In the months leading up to the event, learners from Amandasig, Rantailane, Boitumelong, Alafang Secondary Schools and Royal Academy of Extra Lessons worked alongside mentors, transforming ideas into projects they proudly presented on the day.

Today, we reflect on the remarkable projects and celebrate the creativity, curiosity and problem-solving skills of these young minds.
