On this day in 2022, an aviation era gently rolled to a close as the final Boeing 747—Atlas Air’s 747-8F—left the Everett widebody factory for the very last time. The 1,574th Queen of the Skies was towed out of the same doors where the first jumbo emerged in 1968, watched by hundreds of Boeing employees who helped shape its legacy. A true icon that revolutionized long-haul travel, introduced the world to the widebody age, and later became a powerhouse freighter, this final 747 now flies with Atlas Air carrying a tribute to chief engineer Joe Sutter. Even as the skies shift to modern twins like the 777 and A350, the legend of the 747 continues to soar in the hearts of pilots, engineers, and travelers worldwide. ✈️👑
