The risk score had been climbing for weeks. Fatigue alerts fired Tuesday. Again Thursday.

"Drunk Before 8am."

Not because they've been drinking. Because they haven't slept.

Driver fatigue mimics alcohol impairment almost perfectly — slowed reaction times, compromised judgement, microsleeps behind the wheel. A driver who started their shift at 3am is clinically as impaired by 8am as someone over the legal limit. Except no breathalyser will tell you that. No roadblock will catch it. And when something goes wrong, the incident report won't say fatigue. It rarely does.
That's the problem.

Fatigue is invisible until it isn't — and by then, someone is already dead.

It's one of the most researched risks in fleet management. It's also one of the least actively managed. Not because fleet managers don't know. But because the systems we rely on weren't built to see it.
