Historically, Zimbabwe succeeded Rhodesia, which itself succeeded Mthwakazi.
The colonization of Mashonaland occurred in 1890 without encountering resistance from the local inhabitants.
Conversely, Mthwakazi was colonized in 1893 following a series of battles waged by King Lobhengula's IButho, including the Gadade battle.
White colonizers celebrated the supposed 40-year occupation of Mashonaland in 1930, and similarly commemorated the alleged 40-year occupation of Matebeleland in 1933.
Notably, the unification of these two nations in 1923 was accomplished without considering the concerns of the Mthwakazi and Mashonaland peoples.
Regrettably, this historical account is absent from Zimbabwean history books, and can only be accessed through MRP platforms.
