Heidelberg’s beauty is largely attributable to her locale – set between mountains and the sea with the source of the Duibenhoks River lying in the mountains close to the town. The area fuels every eco-tourist’s delight, providing birding, well-preserved examples of fynbos, forests and streams, where one can spend uninterrupted time communing with nature.

Delish:
Delish is described as a “farm stall-cum-diner” and presents a menu that is varied and innovative, but always tasty. Some meals may take longer to cook and prepare, but diners are assured of the best flavours and fresh ingredients. Homemade artisan breads are irresistible, and best enjoyed with some of the awesome combinations offered by Delish. These include chicken and homemade paprika mayonnaise, and the rare beef and mustard on banting bread for those following the ‘High Carb Low Fat’ lifestyle.

Grysbok and Bushbuck Trails:
Grootvadersbosch, which adjoins the Boosmansbos Wilderness Area, is one of the few nature reserves that remains something of a secret. It also protects a large indigenous forest. The reserve offers two trails – the Bushbuck and Grysbok – that can combine into various trails that range between 2 and 15 km. You can get your permit from the reserve office. The Grysbok is a circular trail that loops from west to east in the more northerly section of the reserve, whilst the Bushbuck Trail is a smaller loop in the south of the reserve.
