Join Cellsius Aero At AERO Friedrichshafen This Week!

If you’re curious about where aviation is headed next, make your way to Booth A7-305 where the team from Cellsius Aero are bringing the future with them.

Cellsius Aero are a student-led innovation team driven by a bold vision: making aviation more sustainable. It all started with Carlo Schmid—once the youngest pilot to circumnavigate the world solo—who set out to rethink aircraft propulsion. Partnering with ETH Zürich, that vision evolved into the e-Sling: a fully electric, battery-powered aircraft.

And they didn’t stop there.

Now, they’re pushing even further with the H2-Sling—aiming for a 2026 maiden flight as Switzerland’s first hydrogen-powered aircraft, and potentially the world’s first student-built hydrogen aircraft. Their mission isn’t just to prove it can be done, but to show it can perform—with plans to take it over the Alps.

In short: bold ideas, serious engineering, and a glimpse of what flight could look like tomorrow. You won’t see a full aircraft on the stand—but you will see a scale model of their H2-Sling, alongside the minds behind these groundbreaking projects. Dirk and Diana Drees of Apfelkuchen Flugzeugbau are bringing something completely different—aviation storytelling in real time.

Germany-based Slingers, we’ll be at Messe Friedrichshafen next week from 22–25 April with a strong Sling presence and an incredible lineup of aircraft, crew, and stories.

It’s go-time in the Tankwa!

The Tanqua Kuru Bicycle Race. is calling, and once again, we’re answering with dust, gravel, and adventure. At least four Sling aircraft and our Team of Sling riders are heading to Tankwa Tented Camp for three days of pure Karoo grit — and a few lucky participants will even take to the skies with us for unforgettable aerial flips over the desert.

But that’s not all…

This year, former Springbok Bob Skinstad, is taking on the Karoo — trading stadium lights for endless gravel on the Sling Cycles Tagati. No crowds, no comfort. Just heat, dust, and determination.
