Cape Town Container Terminal (CTCT) hosted delegates from Hisense for an operational engagement focused on cargo movement processes and terminal operations linked to their business activities. With a manufacturing plant based in Cape Town, Hisense moves more than 500 containers through CTCT each month. Delegates received an overview of cargo handling processes from vessel arrival to departure and gained insight into operational coordination across the terminal value chain, strengthening knowledge sharing and stakeholder alignment.

The investment marks a significant step towards smarter operations, improved efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and a more sustainable future for terminal operations.

Kudumane Manganese Resources recently visited the Eastern Cape Terminals with a delegation comprising Mr. Fernando Voges, Marketing & Logistics General Manager for Sales; Mr. Thabo Masilo, Accounts and Administration Manager; and the newest addition to the team, Mr. Young Kim, Assistant General Manager for Commerce.

The delegation was hosted by PE Terminals Terminal Manager, Mr. Chuma Butshingi, alongside Mr. Monde Dyantyi, Key Accounts Representative; Mr. Chad Jansen, PE Terminals Planning and Logistics Manager; and Mr. Zukile Dambuza, Eastern Cape Regional Planning Manager.

During the visit, Mr. Butshingi took the delegation through a presentation on the Break Bulk Terminal, Bulk Ore Terminal, and Finger Jetty operations. The engagement also provided an opportunity to introduce the new Customer Collaboration Policy, which is aimed at strengthening relationships and enhancing collaboration between the terminal and its customers.

“We value engagements such as these as they create an opportunity to strengthen relationships with our customers and align on operational matters that support efficiency and service delivery,” said Mr. Butshingi.

Mr. Young Kim, who was officially welcomed to the Kudumane Manganese Resources team during the visit, expressed his appreciation for the engagement and the opportunity to meet the PE Terminals team.
“It is a privilege to meet the PE Terminals team and gain insight into the operations. I look forward to building strong working relationships and contributing positively to the partnership between Kudumane Manganese Resources and the terminal,” said Mr. Kim.

This week’s celebrations are commencing with inclusive prayer sessions representing different religions and beliefs, reflecting Pier 1’s commitment to unity, diversity, and respect for all employees. Colleagues came together in gratitude and reflection to honour the achievements of the 2025/2026 financial year.

Through dedication, resilience, teamwork, and operational excellence, Pier 1 has achieved a NEW RECORD of 728 425 TEUs for the 2025/2026 financial year, exceeding targets and setting a new benchmark for performance.

Pier 1 continues to prove why it is one of the top performing terminals, with every employee playing a critical role in this remarkable achievement. From the quayside to the control rooms, from planning teams to operations, every effort matters.
