- Identifying untariffed or missing parts

Cape Town Container Terminal productivity has been negatively impacted by COVID-19 related issues as well as preventative measures being put in place to deal with the current situation.

This has led to slower operations as well as berth congestion at the terminal. TPT has therefore declared force majure effective immediately.

This means from 01 June 2020 there will be no berthing windows as currently allocated to services, but berthing will be achieved on the basis of vessel ETA.

We will continue to keep you informed on the impact you consignments and services as well as contingency measures to deal with delays in order to maintain schedule integrity as far as possible.

Thanks to the team at the SAAFF, we have the following confirmation from an attorney in the Department of Transport’s legal team as follows:

“The direction clearly stated under section 10 (1) Transportation of cargo from the sea ports of entry to their final destination is permitted. The explanation provided was that all cargo essential and non- essential. under this regulation and directive could have and can be transported to the consignee as final destination , unpacked and the empty box turned in . However the consignee could and cannot trade with non- essential cargo until regulation allows.”

This would apply to any cargo that might be stuck at a depot or terminal since 8th May 2020.

If you had sent us a Level 5 is the past we will download your level 4.
