VACANCY
PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
▪ Minimum of a Matric qualification, Grade 12
▪ A supervisory & basic operations tertiary qualification will be advantageous
▪ Knowledge and experience in port operations work procedures, systems at intakes,
warehousing, shipping and containers
▪ Basic computer literacy skills and knowledge of operational systems
▪ Knowledge and experience of handling general cargo and perishable products
▪ At least 2 years experience in terminal operations

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
▪ Ability to supervise, motivate and control operational team
▪ Ability to problem-solve and execute instructions effectively
▪ Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
▪ Conduct daily pre-shift planning meetings to allocate manpower and prepare for
intakes, loading of containers or vessels
▪ Conduct time and attendance check at the start and end of shift
▪ Supervise the loading of vessels and containers in conjunction with the Production
Manager and according to client’s specifications.
▪ Plan and execute intake and warehousing activities in conjunction with Production
Manager and according to client’s specifications.
▪ Ensure minimal damage to products and adhere to damage procedures
▪ Supervise and monitor manpower and operation at allocated operational points.
▪ Ensure efficient handover to next shift by communicating action plans
▪ Adhere to health, safety, security and general housekeeping procedures
▪ Manage subordinates in respect of performance management and training

VACANCIES REACH STACKER/ SMV OPERATOR

The above seasonal position has become available at DQ Terminal Operations, Cape Town. This position seeks qualified licensed and experienced Reach Stacker / SMV operators.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of a matric qualification, Grade 12/or equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience of terminal operations work
procedures and systems at intakes, dispatching, shipping and
stacking containers would be advantages.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in handling containers and
adhoc cargo.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• To handle a variety of cargo and SMV attachments.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions for ex*****on.
• Ability to problem-solve and execute instructions effectively
both verbally and written.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Work well within a team.
• Possess good customer relations skills.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
• Punctuality and attendance is compulsory.
• Able to work in confined and congested spaces.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA

• Conduct pre and post inspection checks on Reach Stacker.
• Load and off load containers from/to vessel from/to container
stack area.
• Use correct attachments for variety of cargo.
• Report defects of machine promptly.
• Report damages by following the incident reporting
procedure.
• Follow container stack stowing rules.
• Follow safe working practices and correct use of driving and
handling cargo.
• Follow health, safety and security procedures.

• Use correct forklift attachments for various cargo handled.
• Follow storage rules and patterns.
• Comply with warehouse management systems, rules and
instructions.
• Follow forklift safety rules and operating procedures.
• Handle fruit pallets with care and comply with 360 quality
protocols.
• Identify pallet defects and raise alerts to take to build up area
for repairs.
• Report damages and follow incident reporting procedures.
• Follow health, safety and security procedures.
