Where function becomes atmosphere.

Pictured aboard the first Askari 65 Power Long Range Cruiser is Monique Brider , Head of Interior Design at Du Toit Yacht Design, taking in the beautifully resolved stairwell connecting the lower accommodation spaces with the main deck.

The warmth of the timber finishes, contrasting slatted detailing and carefully integrated lighting bring depth and character to the space, while providing practical illumination as guests move between decks.

Designed by Du Toit Yacht Design and built in aluminium by Askari Yachts in Cape Town, the Askari 65 is a custom long-range power cruiser created for serious offshore capability and refined onboard living.

As the first vessel completes her commissioning process, we are proud to have worked with the Askari Yachts team to bring this distinctive yacht to life. Keep an eye out as we share more of the thoughtful details found throughout her interior.

Born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal, Jakeโ€™s connection to the ocean began at an early age. Growing up in a family of keen anglers and scuba divers gave him a deep appreciation for the marine environment and inspired his ambition to design yachts that enable people to explore the worldโ€™s oceans and extraordinary destinations.

Over the past six months, Jake has interned with Du Toit Yacht Design, gaining valuable practical experience across several areas of yacht design. He has worked on laminations, weight calculations and 3D modelling, as well as the positioning of hardware and equipment aboard sailing yachts.

Jake also developed two helm station design concepts for the Askari 55 Performance Adventure Catamaran and worked on modelling exterior surfaces. Through these projects, he has gained a greater understanding of how yacht design brings together performance, engineering, ergonomics, construction and practical use on the water.

Jake will soon head to Southampton Solent University to study Yacht Design and Production. After completing his studies, he plans to return to South Africa and pursue his dream of working in yacht design and production.

It has been a pleasure having Jake as part of the Du Toit Yacht Design team. We thank him for his enthusiasm, curiosity and hard work, and wish him every success with his studies and what promises to be a very bright future!

The depth behind the lines.

DTYDโ€™s strength is not built around one individual. It is the result of a team that combines decades of offshore sailing, racing, yacht design, engineering, interior design and hands-on build support.

Across concept design, naval architecture, engineering development, interiors and yard coordination, we bring practical judgement as well as design ability.

That collective depth is what allows us to solve complex problems calmly, communicate clearly with clients and builders, and carry demanding projects from first sketch through build with confidence.

The first Askari 65 Long Range Cruiser has just been launched in Cape Town.

Shortly before completion, we penned this article looking at one of the defining aspects of the vessel: her aluminium construction.

Designed by Du Toit Yacht Design and built by Askari Yachts, the Askari 65 is a 65-foot aluminium long-range power cruiser created for owners who want range, comfort, individuality and genuine offshore capability.

In the article, we explore why aluminium is such a compelling material for certain custom and long-range yachts, from design flexibility and structural integrity to serviceability, repairability and practical long-term ownership.

Watch this space too. We will be sharing the official Askari 65 launch video soon, along with a dedicated video looking more closely at aluminium yacht construction and what it means from a design perspective.

Explore why aluminium yacht construction suits long-range cruisers and performance catamarans, from design flexibility to strength, serviceability and long-term ownership.
