Every day starts with purpose!

For Sammy, it’s about more than just getting people from point A to point B, it’s about providing for his family, serving his community, and helping shape a better future for the taxi industry.

As both a graduate from the MBT Executive Leadership Programme and a Peace Ambassador, Sammy represents a new generation of leadership within the industry, one that values growth, professionalism, safety, and proactive change.

Through programmes such as the Peace Ambassador Programme and the “If You Hear Something, Say Something” campaign, industry members are being empowered to handle conflict differently, promote safety awareness, and contribute towards building stronger communities.

The MBT Executive Leadership Programme, in collaboration with SANTACO Western Cape and the Department of Mobility, continues to equip leaders with the tools and mindset needed to help transform the taxi industry from informal to formal structures through intentional leadership and action.

“Take the step, no matter how big or how small, to be the change. Through your actions and decisions, the future is in your hands.” – Samuel Johnathan

A proud and historic moment for the minibus taxi industry in the Western Cape as we celebrated the successful graduation of leaders from the MBT Executive Leadership Programme.

This milestone represents far more than a certificate ceremony, it reflects a commitment to growth, professionalisation, ethical leadership, and building a stronger future for the industry that keeps our communities moving every day. Through this programme, participants were empowered with strategic leadership skills, business insight, governance principles, and tools to lead their organisations and regions with vision and purpose.

We extend our sincere congratulations to every graduate who committed themselves to this journey of learning and self-development. Your dedication is an investment not only in yourselves, but in the future of public transport across our province.

A special word of appreciation to our valued partners who continue to believe in the advancement of the industry. Thank you to the Western Cape Department of Mobility for your continued support in driving meaningful transformation, the UCT Graduate School of Business for your academic leadership and commitment to excellence, and to our corporate partners, MTN South Africa and Sanlam, for standing with the industry and contributing to initiatives that create lasting impact. Your presence and partnership on the day were deeply appreciated.

Together, through collaboration and shared vision, we are creating a more sustainable, empowered and future-focused taxi industry.
Congratulations once again to all graduates, may this achievement be the beginning of even greater leadership journeys ahead.
