A trophy can sit with us for several weeks while CITES and provincial permits are processed, so secure, climate-aware storage matters as much as the crate itself. Our Benoni warehouse keeps every consignment logged, protected and accounted for from the day it arrives until the day it's cleared to fly or sail. Nothing moves without a paper trail.

SCI congratulates the Government of South Africa and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) on the publication of final export quotas for elephant, leopard, and black rhinoceros hunting trophies for 2026 and 2027. SCI thanks the Honorable David Maynier, Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, for bringing this important process to completion through a transparent and science-based regulatory framework. 🐘🐆🦏

“Safari Club International applauds the South African government for finalizing these export quotas and reaffirming its commitment to sustainable use conservation,” said Jeff Meyerl, President of Safari Club International. “These quotas are grounded in science, support conservation funding, create incentives to conserve wildlife habitat, and provide meaningful benefits to landowners and rural communities that live alongside wildlife. South Africa continues to demonstrate that sustainable use conservation works to ensure healthy wildlife populations for future generations.”

SCI has consistently supported the establishment and allocation of these quotas and previously submitted formal comments in favor of the proposed quotas. SCI looks forward to continuing its collaboration with South African conservation authorities and stakeholders to promote sustainable wildlife management and ensure that conservation decisions remain guided by sound science and legal certainty.

Good news. Science based sustainable utilisation of our natural resources.

We welcome Minister Maynier’s publication of the CITES export quotas for elephant, black rhinoceros and leopard hunting trophies. This provides urgently needed regulatory certainty for the wildlife sector, professional hunting operations and rural communities that depend on a functioning, sustainable wildlife economy.

We particularly acknowledge the hard work of the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) in undertaking the scientific assessments that inform this process, as well as the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) for advancing the regulatory and administrative work required to publish the quotas.

Science-based, carefully managed quotas are central to responsible conservation practice. They support sound population management, incentivise the protection of habitat and wildlife, sustain rural employment and create tangible economic value from conservation landscapes.

We commend Minister Maynier, SANBI and DFFE for recognising that sustainable use must be guided by credible science, effective governance and South Africa’s conservation obligations.

A well-regulated wildlife economy remains an essential contributor to biodiversity conservation and rural tourism.

The outfitters we work with season after season aren't looking for a one-off courier — they want a logistics partner who already knows their paperwork, their clients and their timelines. That familiarity is what turns a single shipment into a standing relationship.

Phase 1: export permit application, run alongside taxidermy so nothing waits unnecessarily. Phase 2: packing, crating and warehouse storage once the trophy is ready. Phase 3: quoting, client contact within 48 hours, and departure within days of payment, documents permitting. Three phases, one team, no guesswork.

Most plains game, kudu, impala, gemsbok, blesbok, fall outside CITES and follow a comparatively straightforward export process. Species like leopard, elephant, hippo and crocodile are CITES-listed and involve extra permits on both ends. Knowing which category a trophy falls into early saves everyone time and manages client expectations properly.
