We are seeking a technically minded Graphics Designer & Installer to manage the end to end production of aircraft signage and livery. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between digital design and physical application, with a heavy emphasis on mastering the Roland VersaWorks workflow for precision print and cut operations.
Key Responsibilities
RIP & Production Management: Expertly manage the print queue using VersaWorks, including job nesting, tiling for large scale fuselage graphics, and color matching to specific aviation brand standards.
Precision Cutting: Set up and execute complex contour cuts and perforated cuts within VersaWorks to ensure decals are ready for "w**d and apply" efficiency.
Graphic Finishing: Operate large format lamination equipment to apply protective UV and chemical resistant over laminates required for high altitude environments.
Aviation Installation: Apply vinyl graphics, technical "stencils," and safety markings to aircraft exteriors. Must be proficient in both "dry" and "wet" application methods.
Technical Layout: Adjust design files to account for aircraft rivets, compound curves, and access panels to ensure seamless branding.
Qualifications & Experience
Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Roland VersaWorks (Queue management, Variable Data Printing, and Dual-process Print/Cut).
Pre-Press Knowledge: Ability to prepare files with specific "CutContour" spot colors and registration marks for seamless RIP processing.
Physical Craftsmanship: Proven experience in w**ding, masking, and applying high performance vinyl. Experience with knifeless tape is an advantage.
Aviation Standards: Understanding of the durability requirements for aviation grade vinyl (e.g. resistance to Skydrol/hydraulic fluid and extreme temperature shifts).
Detail Oriented: Ability to work on high value assets where precision and surface preparation are non-negotiable.
Equipment Experience
Printers/Cutters: Roland TrueVIS or VersaCAMM series.
Laminators: Professional cold/heat assist pressure laminators.
Tools: Heat guns, infrared thermometers, and specialised squeegees.
