One of the wildest things I’ve ever seen—I almost hit a prairie dog flying through the air in the landing flare after a hawk dropped it right in front of the jet. Thankfully we missed both. I’m not sure how I would have wrote that one up. 🤣🤣

One of my last deployments in the We were flying the jet back to the states from the Middle East. As we approached the border of Turkey, they refused to allow us entry even though we had obtained all the proper diplomatic clearances. After holding for what seemed like eternity, we finally received authorization to fly over their country. We ended up burning lots of extra gas awaiting for their shenanigans to end, thus it required a divert to Burgas Bulgaria for fuel.
