✨ Jambo, I’m Kristy — the face behind the page👋🏽
I’m a wildlife biologist who realised after 25 years that policies, politics and offices weren’t where I belonged. I wanted to be back in the field, where conservation is lived, not just discussed.
A decade ago, I stepped out of an office and back into the wild — and nothing has been the same since.
One trip to Kenya shifted my path, my purpose, and my heart. Since then, its conservancies, wildlife and communities that have felt like home.
Today, I work with Gamewatchers Safaris & Porini Camps, helping travellers plan ethical, authentic safaris — the kind that truly benefit wildlife and the people who live alongside it. Ethics matter to me because conservation only works when communities thrive and wildlife has space.
I also lead small group safaris (hosted by Gamewatchers) that go beyond the standard game drive — intimate, behind-the-scenes experiences that connect you to the land, the people, and the stories often unseen.
Alongside this, I’m the director of The Maarifa Foundation, supporting Maasai communities bordering the conservancies through school fees and conservation education. Supporting the community is supporting the wildlife.
I’m a hobbyist wildlife photographer — no expert — but incredibly lucky to witness and capture some extraordinary moments, and always love sharing my knowledge with my guests.
Most of all, I’ve made lifelong friends along the way — in Kenya, in Maasai communities, and right here on the socials with people who share a passion for wildlife, conservation and ethical travel.
You could say I’ve been bitten by the safari bug… but it runs deeper than that. Kenya feels like home, and this work feels like purpose.
🌍✨ Thanks for being here, it’s lovely to meet you all 🤍
