Ahaaaa. Who rode Vietnam? 🇻🇳🛵

When Bourdain came to Hanoi in 2016 to film Parts Unknown, he didn’t just eat his way through the city. He got around on a motorbike too.

A few well known things from that trip:
🍜 He had the now-famous bún chả dinner with President Barack Obama at Bún Chả Hương Liên. Now, that very table becomes a signature sight to visit for traveller coming to Hanoi.

🛵 He explored Hanoi by motorbike, getting right into the traffic and seeing the city at street level.

📺 The Hanoi episode became the first episode of Season 8 of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.

🇻🇳 And Vietnam wasn’t a one-time visit for him. He had already travelled here before and returned several times.

There’s a reason the motorbike works so well in Hanoi.

You’re right in the middle of everything. Food stalls, tiny streets, busy markets, cafés, people going about their day — and all the places you probably wouldn’t notice from the back seat of a car.

And when something catches your eye? You can just stop. 😋

That’s one of the things we love about riding a motorbike in Vietnam.

RIDER DIARIES 13👉 Meet Kailyn 💛

🌙“Is it okay to ride in the evening?”
This is one of the most common asked questions our team has, so here’s a real example of how Kailyn tackles it with full confident early this Tet.

🇮🇪Kailyn is from Ireland, and one of her goals for 2026 is simple: learn how to ride and have her own bike.

🎇Her schedule meant she joined us for an evening lesson, which is something many riders are unsure about at first.

🛵What she found was that evenings can actually be a good time to learn:
- Cooler weather (a big plus in Hanoi’s summer)
- A different pace compared to daytime traffic
- And a space to focus and build confidence with guidance from our instructors

🥳 For Kailyn, it worked like magic' She got familiar with the motorbike, built her basics, and ticked off the first step of a goal she set for herself this year. What a way to celebrate the first Tet in Vietnam.
