If you visit the Hue Imperial City between late February and April, you will see a magical sight: trees with no leaves, covered entirely in soft pinkish-purple flowers. This is the Ngo D**g, or the "Royal Parasol Tree."
The Legend: Ancient belief says the Phoenix—a symbol of peace and royalty—only perches on the Ngo D**g tree. This is why King Minh Mang planted them in the most sacred areas of the palace.
Historical Mark: Its image is even carved on the Nine Dynastic Urns (a national treasure) to represent the beauty of the country.
Best View: You can find the most ancient and beautiful Ngo D**g trees behind the Thai Hoa Palace.

Phu Van Lau: The "Social Media" of the 1800s. In the 19th century, this was essentially the "notification center" for the entire kingdom. It was the only place where the Emperor’s most important decrees and the results of national exams were posted. If your name appeared on a list here, your life changed forever. It was the ultimate site of both joy and heartbreak for scholars across Vietnam.
Nghenh Luong Dinh: The Emperor’s Summer Chill Spot. This pavilion was designed for the Emperor to enjoy the breeze and "view the moon”. It wasn't just for relaxation. This was the specific spot where the Emperor would board the royal dragon boat. Interestingly, the architecture is "open" on all four sides with no walls, symbolizing that the King was always accessible to the essence of the land and water.
