A baby red-shanked douc is born — how does it come into the world? Let’s take a closer look at these photographs. Does it surprise you?

These are real-life images, recorded for the very first time in the wild by HIVOOC’s researchersand local trackers, and local photographers in Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang city.

Just a few minutes after birth, the baby douc was already able to latch onto its mother’s ni**le and begin nursing.

The mother appeared extremely exhausted after nearly an hour of labor. She could barely move and remained seated, conserving her strength. It took almost another hour for her to recover before she could start eating a few leaves.

By the following day, the infant’s fur had dried and turned a beautiful straw-yellow color. The young douc was already able to move gently within its mother’s arms.

Here are some fascinating facts about it:
1. Massive Dimensions: Son Doong stretches over 5.5 miles (9 kilometers) long and reaches a height of 650 feet (200 meters) at its highest point. That’s taller than most skyscrapers!
2. Clouds and Weather: Due to its immense size, the cave actually has its own weather system. In certain conditions, clouds can form inside the cave, adding to its otherworldly atmosphere.
3. Rivers and Forests: Inside, you’ll find an underground river that flows through the cave, along with lush, dense forests. These forests are home to a variety of plant and animal life, making the cave feel like an entirely different world.
4. Discovery and Exploration: The cave was discovered in 1991 by a local man, but it wasn’t fully explored until 2009 by a group of British cave explorers. They found the size and complexity of the cave to be unlike anything seen before.
5. Tours: Due to its unique ecosystem and fragility, only a limited number of tourists are allowed to visit each year. The tours, which are heavily regulated, provide a rare chance to explore this natural wonder.

AFTER TET HOLIDAY, QUANG NINH WILL PUT INTO OPERATION 10 THREE-WALLED SAILING BOATS IN HA LONG BAY - BOATS THAT EVOKE A PART OF THE REGION’S MEMORIES

These are traditional three-walled sailing boats, capable of sailing against the wind – a rare type of boat. The boats are made of wood, painted brown, and feature two striking red sails, creating a contrasting effect on the surface of Ha Long Bay.

Initially, three boats will operate near the shore. In the future, the investor plans to build seven more, aiming to form a fleet of tourist sailing boats operating regularly in Ha Long Bay.

Three-walled sailing boats were once a familiar means of transportation for fishermen in the ancient fishing villages of Ha Long Bay. Many residents living along the shores of Ha Long Bay say it has been a long time since they last saw these old sailing boats on the water. Previously, this type of boat was closely associated with the livelihoods of fishing villages. However, since the 1990s, with the rapid development of machinery and motorized vehicles, fishermen have gradually switched to using motorboats, causing the traditional three-walled sailing boats to become increasingly rare.
