Southern Laos is quietly emerging as one of Southeast Asia's most rewarding destinations for travelers seeking nature, culture, and slow travel. Here's why the Champasak region deserves a place on your itinerary:

- Bolaven Plateau - Discover spectacular waterfalls such as Tad Fane and Tad Yuang, explore highland coffee plantations, join immersive coffee farm experiences, and unwind in scenic glamping sites surrounded by lush forests. The plateau's cool climate and fertile volcanic soil have also made it Laos' premier coffee-growing region.
- Wat Phou - Step into over a thousand years of history at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, where ancient Khmer architecture blends harmoniously with the sacred landscape overlooking the Mekong River.
- Si Phan Don (4,000 Islands) - Slow down in a peaceful river paradise where bicycles replace traffic, kayaks glide along the Mekong, and the mighty Khone Phapheng Waterfall showcases the river at its most dramatic.

As demand for slow travel and immersive experiences continues to grow, Vietnam's luxury rail sector is entering a new era. Rather than simply connecting destinations, these premium train journeys invite travelers to enjoy breathtaking scenery, refined hospitality, and cultural discovery - all from the comfort of elegant carriages.

Three standout experiences are leading this revival:

1. SJourney - The luxury rail cruise across Vietnam
A multi-day rail cruise featuring Indochine-inspired cabins, gourmet regional cuisine, curated off-train excursions, wellness experiences, and personalized butler service - transforming the journey into the destination itself.

2. The Vietage by Anantara - A refined central Vietnam escape
An exclusive carriage with only 12 seats, panoramic windows, fine dining, complimentary beverages, and onboard spa treatments, offering one of Vietnam's most luxurious day journeys. It has become a popular choice for guests staying at Anantara's luxury resorts.

3. Victoria Express - The classic journey to Sapa
This overnight heritage train combines nostalgic colonial-style interiors with modern comfort, providing a relaxing gateway to Vietnam's spectacular northern mountains before continuing to Sapa.

Travelers today are looking for more than a single destination - they want a journey that showcases the diversity of an entire region. As air connectivity continues to improve across Southeast Asia and long-haul travelers choose longer holidays, itineraries combining Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand are becoming increasingly popular.

Several factors are driving this growing trend:

1. Easier connectivity: Governments across Southeast Asia are actively dismantling travel barriers to position the region as a unified mega-destination.
- Simplified entry: Vietnam’s extension of e-visa validity to 90 days for all nationalities, combined with Thailand’s bilateral visa-free agreements and Laos’s streamlined E-visa portal, allows travelers to cross borders with minimal paperwork.
- The rise of regional aviation: Low-cost carriers like AirAsia, VietJet Air, and Bangkok Airways offer frequent, budget-friendly flights connecting secondary cities (e.g., direct flights from Da Nang to Bangkok, or Siem Reap to Luang Prabang).

2. The slow travel revolution: Modern travelers, particularly long-haul tourists from Europe and North America, are trading whistle-stop tours for deeper, slower, and more intentional journeys. Having traveled thousands of miles, they prefer to spend three to four weeks fully immersing themselves in the rhythm of the Mekong region.

3. More diverse experiences: A single itinerary can combine the limestone landscapes of Ha Long Bay, the ancient temples of Angkor, the peaceful heritage of Luang Prabang, and the vibrant energy of Bangkok - offering a remarkable contrast of cultures, cuisines, and landscapes within one seamless journey.

The Grand Palace may be Bangkok's most famous landmark, but some of the city's most memorable experiences are found in its historic neighborhoods and hidden streets.

Explore the centuries-old community of Talat Noi, where colorful street art, vintage workshops, Chinese shrines, and charming cafés sit alongside the Chao Phraya River. Wander through the vibrant lanes of Yaowarat (Chinatown), renowned for its legendary street food and lively markets, then continue to Song Wat Road, a revitalized riverside district where beautifully restored shophouses now house independent cafés, galleries, and creative spaces. Nearby, River City Bangkok offers contemporary art exhibitions and riverside dining, showcasing another side of the city's evolving cultural scene.

The latest milestone comes as Accor and Sun Group have expanded their long-standing strategic partnership, with plans to introduce nearly 6,000 premium hotel rooms and serviced apartments across Phu Quoc and Da Nang.

The new portfolio will bring internationally recognized brands to key leisure destinations, further enhancing Vietnam's accommodation offering for luxury, leisure, MICE, and long-haul travelers.
