A small business owner is a job that requires dealing with issues every day, and of course not always lucrative or get well paid like other jobs.
After the first few years after graduating, I worked for companies. Woking life went so easy and I never have to worry about how much I can make monthly. However, I was very depressed because from deep inside me, I feel that I need to do something more valuable, more meaningful to people.
I see the potential of agriculture in Vietnam, especially in coffee, we are able to compete in quality while still assure the quantity. So I decided to visit people who are working in the field in Dak Lak and Dalat. After months of learning, I truly fall in love with people, farmers, and coffee.
Listening to their stories, difficulties, challenges, and their dedication to the homeland, I know that I am on the right path. I must be a part of the chain to expand the market for Viet coffee.
The more I work on the business, the more I learn that the common issue of Vietnam is we are too weak at marketing and sales on a national scale. We can produce many amazing items/products at a very competitive price, but we get stuck in searching for buyers. Thus, I start sourcing and exporting items made in Vietnam idea.
The key ideas/missions of my business are very clear. However, while taking in action, I learn that business = dealing with issues. I have done tones of tasks that I have never done before, get used to working under pressure. And for the first few years, I don't expect to make money and nobody knows if the business can survive and thrive.
In a word, if you start a business to make money as a vision/mission..it is a completely wrong mindset, I think.
What is your story? I hope you all are happy with what you are doing!
