The North Cardinal Marker off Sprat Point, Trellis Bay, Beef Island, has been repaired and returned to its charted position:

📍 18° 27.095′ N, 064° 31.767′ W

The marker is operational and may again be relied upon as an aid to navigation in Trellis Bay and its approaches.

Notice to Mariners No. 06-2026 (T), issued 12 October 2026, is now cancelled.

Trellis Bay (Sprat Point) North Cardinal Marker Not on Station

Mariners are advised that the 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐲 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫 near Sprat Point, Beef Island, is currently not on station and should not be relied upon as an aid to navigation in the area.

Charted position: 18° 27.095′ N, 064° 31.767′ W

All mariners operating in Trellis Bay and its approaches are urged to 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, maintain a proper lookout, proceed at a safe speed, and keep well clear of the navigational hazards in the vicinity.

The carbon rules are changing how vessels are valued, financed and kept compliant.

The Virgin Islands Shipping and Maritime Authority - BVI Maritime invites you to a two-day training on Maritime Decarbonisation and Energy Efficiency: Technical and Operational Measures towards Sustainable Shipping.

Date: 13 to 14 October 2026
Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Venue: Conference Room, Maria's by the Sea, Road Town

What you will cover:
> Global and regional compliance (IMO, EU, UK)
> Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI)
> IMO Data Collection System and SEEMP Part II
> Carbon Intensity Indicator and SEEMP Part III

The training is designed for Representative Persons, corporate service providers, legal and compliance professionals, lenders, marine insurers and ship managers.
Industry participation is limited to 10 placements. The fee is US$250 per participant, and registration closes 9 October 2026.

We are hiring a Marine Officer.

VISMA is looking for a maritime professional to join our Marine Survey and Inspection team, inspecting vessels operating in BVI waters and vessels on the British Virgin Islands Flag.

This is hands on work. Expect vessel boardings, boatyards and dry docks, and travel outside the territory.

A Master, Chief Mate or Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch Certificate of Competency, a maritime diploma, or five years of marine surveying experience will all be considered.
