This ICAO Category II airport is the primary hub of Uzbekistan Airways after the reconstruction of the main terminal in 2001. Documentally, its capacity reached 1000 passengers/hour, but no arriving passenger can leave the airport without spending 2 hours for customs check procedure, and baggage checking procedure, and every departing passenger must arrive in Airport at least 3 hours prior to depa
rture; airport serves more than 2 million passengers a year. Other facilities include waiting lounges, CIP and VIP halls, restaurants and bars, currency exchange offices, duty free shops, airlines ticket counters etc. The third new terminal is being introduced in the Tashkent International Airport, Uzbekistan, as its carrying capacity is 400 passengers per hour, as of September 26, 2011, all flights from Tashkent will be operated from the new terminal, Tashkent-3, as regards all domestic airlines.
