Thinking back on life I fashioned myself to be a great athlete I had the heart and spirit but not the physic. I pushed myself anyway wearing joints out enduring pain late in life. Then I abused meds for relief. Then I got joint replacements. Hard to believe I replaced two shoulders two hips and one knee. Then I had trouble with cobalt poisoning from the joints. Was it worth it? I think so! I managed to live hard, play hard. I took to flying in college on the reward my grandfather gave me for not smoking. Carl Sr promised a $1,000 reward for not smoking. My venture into aviation at Indy Exec happened because of that pilot license. I owned flew several aircraft. Helped my youngest brother transition from a ship captain to a professional pilot.
I entered an air race flying all 48 states. I flew generators to family in Florida because of damage from hurricane Andrew. I built many hangars at Indy Exec TYQ. I helped convince Hamilton County to build their airport in Boone County. Mike Howard who married my High School friend Debbie Powell was instrumental in getting the county to develop the Airport. Ray Van-sickle secured FAA grants for 5,000 ft of runway. Sonny Beck, Beck Hybrids bought a jet and operated it there. I joined the “Confederate Air Force name changed to Commemorative Air Force, Indiana Wing to be politically correct we were all honorary Colonels. I have always been a risk taker that even got me in jail for some reason I can’t remember right now but I met a great friend Ted Salinski. I think life isn’t the good and bad, but what you make out of life situations. I hope my facebook friends and audience enjoy this short rendition of my life.
