We have some great news if you are a ZFS customer, or a potential ZFS customer!!
We have updated the Grain Bids page on our website, and we think you'll find the new site to be much more user friendly.
The market information you need, as well as updated receiving hours and other information, is still there, but in a much cleaner, easier-to-read format.
You also have the opportunity to sign up to receive daily messages from our merchandising team, ensuring that you have the most current information possible when making grain marketing decisions.

September is Truck Driver Appreciation Month, and we have a whole bunch of good ones who drive for Zeeland Freight Services.
On Friday, we took some time to recognize and thank our drivers for all they do for ZFS and its affiliates - as well as our customers - with our annual Driver Appreciation Day lunch.
We truly could not do what we do without the ladies and gentlemen behind the wheels who move products all over the state, and the country.
They do it efficiently. They do it safely. They are also the face of our company for many of our customers, and the drivers are great ambassadors for all of our affiliate companies.
On Friday we shared a great meal from StrEATs Taco Kitchen, in Zeeland, handed out a bunch of t-shirts and hats, and also gave away some great prizes.
And, most importantly, we were able to let the drivers know what probably doesn't get said enough - they are very much appreciated.

Let the fun begin!!
Harvest 2026 is officially underway at Zeeland Farm Services.
Long-time ZFS customer Carl Blough of Blu Sky Farms in Lowell dropped off the first load of beans in Zeeland at about 11 o'clock this morning.
Carl has been bringing grain to ZFS for many years, probably since the soy plant was built in 1996 - or even before, and this is the first time he's had the honor of delivering a season's first load. He received a nice cooler full of ZFS swag for being at the front of the line in 2026.
ZFS Grain Merchandiser Nate Nies, pictured with Carl, said Blu Sky Farms was his first official farm visit as a ZFS intern way back in 2011, and he's been working with Carl for about 15 years.
We are grateful to Carl and Blu Sky Farms for choosing to partner with Zeeland Farm Services over the years, and wish him, and all the other growers, a safe and prosperous harvest.

With soybean harvest right around the corner, we thought we’d share a few fun facts about the wonderful bean that is the engine behind our business.

Soybeans are an amazing crop with many uses beyond the farm. From food and fuel, to everyday products like crayons, there’s so much more to this little bean than meets the eye.

Did you know that one acre of soybeans can yield enough oil to produce approximately 82,000 standard crayons? That’s enough crayons to fill 5,125 boxes of 16 crayons.

It means enough soybeans are grown in Michigan each year to create almost 180 million crayons. That’s enough to keep all the grade school students coloring for many, many years.

And, because soy crayons are biodegradable, they break down faster and are much better for the environment than regular crayons, which are made from a petroleum-based wax.

Not only that, but soy crayons tend to be brighter than regular crayons.

Soy crayons. One more reason to appreciate the amazing soybean.

It won't be long and harvest will be here in Zeeland, too.
Here's hoping for a strong crop and safe transport. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again.
Who will be the first and stake their claim to the ZFS first-load prize?

Harvest 2026 has officially started at ZFS Ithaca! 🎉
This morning, Mike Hoover, a full-time employee of Kadlec Farms LLC in St. Charles, delivered the first load of new-crop beans for the season.
The beans were harvested Friday and arrived at ZFS Ithaca this morning at 14.6 percent moisture.
This was a little different than our “normal” first-load picture, as we didn’t realize the first load of new crop had arrived until Mike was already on his way back to the farm. The ZFS Ithaca merchandising team had to chase him down to make sure he received his first-load gift.
For bringing in the first load of 2026, Mike received a duffel bag filled with ZFS Ithaca swag, presented by ZFS Ithaca Grain Merchandiser Megan Bunge.
Congratulations to Kadlec Farms LLC on bringing in the first load of new-crop beans! We look forward to seeing you and the rest of our growers many more times throughout the fall.

Who wants $50?

It’s time to start thinking about the 2027 ZFS calendar! Once again, the theme is “general agriculture”. If your photo gets picked, you’ll score $50 and major bragging rights!

What kind of photos are we looking for?
- Farm scenes
- Farm equipment
- Farm animals
- Anything that depicts life on the farm or is related to farming and agriculture.

Please note that the images must be high resolution – so if you are using your phone, set it on the largest file setting or highest quality setting. The photos also need to be landscape/horizontal to fit our calendar format.

Deadline is October 16.

We had great weather and a great time at our annual Safety Day at ZFS last Friday. Thank you to our Safety Team for putting on a wonderful event once again.
And thanks to all the ZFS employees who game out to enjoy a delicious lunch, play some fun games and win a boatload of awesome prizes.
It was a great way to continue building the culture of safety that is so important to our company and to our employees. Can't wait until next year.

This morning we had the opportunity to visit the farm of Joe Seif in Grattan Township, just north and east of Grand Rapids, and his Non-GMO soybean field was quite a sight.
More than 70 acres of rolling hills, framed by lush, green trees, just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
The beans were more than three-feet tall and loaded with pods. Now, we understand that doesn't guarantee a great harvest, but it sure looks like things are trending in the right direction.
