We had great weather and a great time at our annual Safety Day at ZFS last Friday. Thank you to our Safety Team for putting on a wonderful event once again.
And thanks to all the ZFS employees who game out to enjoy a delicious lunch, play some fun games and win a boatload of awesome prizes.
It was a great way to continue building the culture of safety that is so important to our company and to our employees. Can't wait until next year.

This morning we had the opportunity to visit the farm of Joe Seif in Grattan Township, just north and east of Grand Rapids, and his Non-GMO soybean field was quite a sight.
More than 70 acres of rolling hills, framed by lush, green trees, just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
The beans were more than three-feet tall and loaded with pods. Now, we understand that doesn't guarantee a great harvest, but it sure looks like things are trending in the right direction.
Thanks to Joe for letting us take a look, and thanks to John Byrne for helping out, as well.

Zeeland Farm Services wants to remind everyone that some area schools are already back in session for the year, and many others are soon to follow. That means school busses are back on the road, and excited students are out there every morning waiting for their rides to school, or are anxious to get home at the end of a long day. Please be extra cautious and obey all traffic rules and the bus warning lights, as many young students are doing this for the first time, while others are getting back into the bus-riding routine. It only takes a few extra seconds to do the right thing.

Also, it won’t be long until fall harvest season is here, and that means the school busses will be joined on the road by tractors, combines, trucks and other slow-moving farm equipment. These folks are trying to move from farm-to-field, or field-to-farm as quickly as possible, and they don’t like being on the road any more than you like them being there.
So please give our farmers a little grace, and be cautious as you pass, knowing that the larger vehicles are not that nimble, and moving off to the side isn’t always an option.
Remember, road safety is a two-way street.

It was a bittersweet afternoon at Zeeland Farm Services, as we said goodbye to Maddie Ruster, who spent the summer working as an intern in the Grain Merchandising department at ZFS.
Maddie is headed back to East Lansing for her final year at Michigan State, and while we are excited to see what her future holds, she will be greatly missed.
As a farm kid from Coopersville, Maddie was familiar with Zeeland Farm Services and many of the services we offer the ag industry, and it didn’t take long for her to get acclimated here in the office.
Throughout the summer, Maddie fielded phone calls, entered contracts, worked with our growers on their marketing plans, and basically became an integral part of our team. She also spent a lot of time at fairs across Michigan, supporting the FFA and 4-H programs by bidding on and purchasing livestock from future producers in the state.
The summer went by quickly, as it always does, and we can only hope that Maddie enjoyed her time at ZFS as much as we enjoyed working with her.
Good luck, Maddie, and thanks for everything.

Congratulations to Stephanie Johnson, who is winner of the Berlin Raceway ticket and Zoye Premium Vegetable Oils swag package.
Stephanie listed her favorite summertime meal as sweet corn, and we couldn't agree more. There isn't anything we enjoy more on the late-summer dinner table than fresh Michigan sweet corn, and when it's topped with Zoye But-R-Like, it's even better.
Stephanie, you are in for a great night at the track, where it will be Faith & Family Night, with racing in the Super Late Model, 4-Cylinder, Dwarf and Mini Wedge divisions. After the races, Boys Gone Mild will be playing on the Electrial Innovations stage, and that is definitely worth sticking around for.
We want to thank everyone who entered the ticket giveaway contest, and we hope you'll continue to follow the Zoye, Berlin and ZFS FB pages, because we are planning to do this again next year.

We had a special visitor drop by the ZFS/ZFS Ithaca booth at AgroExpo earlier today! 🚁

ZFS customer Lynn Walton fired up his helicopter and made the quick flight to St. John’s from his farm in Imlay City, bringing with him his daughter and three grandchildren. He landed just outside the show grounds and made his way over to the ZFS booth to chat with ZFS Ithaca grain merchandiser Nate Greeley about the USDA and WASDE reports, which were released today at noon. Lynn made quite an impression with his arrival and departure. It was a sight to see.

We’ve enjoyed two great days at AgroExpo and want to thank everyone who has stopped by the booth to chat. It’s been great catching up with so many of you, and we look forward to seeing you again at harvest.

We're still here until 3:00pm today, so if you haven’t had a chance to stop by yet, there’s still time. Come say hello before the show wraps up!
