City Hall staff have been delightfully surprised this week; a new fawn has been born and shared the sweetest sneak peeks with staff. Mama has stayed nearby, and trusted letting her little one rest on our grounds. What a beautiful treat!

Spring is a busy time for welcoming new wildlife. Often, babies are left alone for periods of time while adults forage for food; this is normal. Touching or moving these babies can harm them, as human scent may cause abandonment. If you spy a newborn resting, enjoy a quick look from a safe distance, and keep your pets away. If you suspect the parent(s) have not returned after more than 24hrs, contact local wildlife authorities. Remember, the best way to help is by not interfering.

Please remind children to kindly not throw rocks, sand, or other debris into the creek. We know the temptation is hard to resist, but when elements enter the creek, it can disrupt the flow of water and lead to the creek being turned off for repairs. The City Council of the City of Woodland Park is seeking applicants to serve on the City’s Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors. Three board positions are available: two current vacancies and one that will become vacant on July 1, 2026. Applications must be received no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026.

6/9/26: Please be advised of the recent amendment to the Stage 2 Fire Ban - still active in Teller County, including Woodland Park.

This morning, representatives of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office met with the Board of County Commissioners about amending the Stage II Fire Ban Resolution to allow the use of propane fire pits in addition to the devices that are already allowed. As a result, the update, Resolution 06-9-2026 (21), approved and in effect June 9, 2026, reads as follows:

“This Resolution does not restrict use of the following, provided that each is at lease 10 feet away from combustible walls or roofs, or other combustible materials and have the ability to be turned off at the fuel source and do not leave any residual or lingering fire: Gas, liquid or propane fire pits, barbecues, stoves, and lanterns. Pellet Stoves and Grills.

“All other Stage II Fire Ban restrictions remain in place.”

As always, please use your propane fire pits and other fire-producing devices in a responsible manner.

The updated guide is attached, reflecting this change.

𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐬! The City is seeking volunteers who like getting their hands in the dirt to help plant seasonal flowers across our community. Join us June 16-June 19th as we collaborate to plant flower beds for the summer season. Volunteers will meet at the City's public works facility, located on Rampart Range Road. Please plan to bring your gardening gloves, sun protection, water, and, if you have them, basic gardening tools.
