Ray G. in Liquid Tanks recently paid off his truck! He shared the challenges he overcame and valuable advice for fellow Owner Operators interested in doing a lease purchase.
Have you ever bought a truck by lease purchase before? "No, always paid cash for my trucks over the years and bought older trucks. Benefits to leasing was Autumn helps me out if I break down and then finances it. Other companies don't care, they'll smoke your paychecks to get their money back right away."
Were you nervous? "Oh yeah, I like to investigate things thoroughly before I make a decision. That's why it took me 6 months talking with ya'll before coming on. Too many companies lie to get you there and then it isn't what they said."
What were the keys to succeeding? "You gotta be able to work on your truck some. If you don't, you won't make it. The bills will add up too much. Keep good new tires on truck. If you don't you'll be on the side of the road. Gotta stay on top of oil changes and other maintenance."
What advice would you give someone thinking about a lease purchase? "You have to have the mindset that you're going to finish the lease. Don't come on half-hearted about it. Stick it out and do it. There's going to be hard times. Your truck is gonna break down at the stupidest times. Keep after it, keep going until you pay that truck off. When you make the last truck payment, it's a good feeling that it's finally yours. All the sacrifice pays off."
What about treatment from dispatch? "They do really good. It's all about the communication. They learn how I run and we figure it out."

Owner Operator Series: Jack Mancini
Jack has partnered with Autumn since 2019. He started working in the Liquid Tank division and has since transferred to the Hopper division. Jack is an interesting guy with a diverse background.
Maurice has partnered with Autumn since November of 2021. He has completed his lease purchase ownership program with us and is now the proud owner of his rig! We asked him a few questions about his leasing experience and here's what he had to say:
Have you ever bought a truck via lease purchase before? "No, this is the first time."
Did you look at other programs? "No. I had heard of other companies screwing drivers over but heard good things about Autumn’s program so I decided to give it a try."
Were you nervous? "Heck yeah! My biggest fear was potential breakdowns and not being able to keep up with maintenance costs."
What were the keys to succeeding? "Pay any extra money you can on your weekly payment and keep money on the side in your maintenance account to cover repairs."
What advice would you give someone thinking about a lease purchase? "Hammer down!"
What has your experience been like working with the recruiting and management team? "Josh was great to work with. I bought one of the trucks Autumn already had available. I was able to give input in the process. I wasn’t just stuck with a truck."
What about treatment from dispatch? "Dispatch never treated me any different as a lease purchase. They are awesome."
What are your future plans for the truck? "I’m going to run it for a while and be ready to upgrade if/when the right opportunity pops up."
