Dear everyone,
I hope you all are having a great start to your new year, and I hope you had a happy holiday season! Thank you for your patience in this process. I know it must be stressful not to have information while slip holders are making decisions about where to put their boats and what the future may hold for the marina.
That being said, there is a lot of hope that I have and hold for the future of the marina and its reopening this summer. IDNR is still seeking emergency procurement and finalizing that with the vendor who may manage the marina this upcoming year. I will be in touch with you all as soon as I am able to give an update about anything at all, including when the procurement is finalized. Due to the procurement process and the legality and rules around that, I am unable to share any specific details at thsi time. Please know that I am in constant communication with IDNR about what is going on with this, and there is good news almost every time I speak with them.
I have also filed a bill to make the North Point Marina procurement exempt, that way the state can work directly with vendors for the management, winterization, and other contracts that deal directly with the marina. Senator Edly-Allen has also filed an identical bill in the Senate, and we are working with Springfield to ensure the easiest way forward for the marina and its oversight and management. These bill numbers are HB 4307 and SB 2518.
Please reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Joyce
